A good OW but with the MCU we expect record breaking stuff so can understand some of the disappointed. Just indicates we should perhaps lower all expectations as we're still a bit away from normalcy at this stage. Also puts a better light on what Fast 9 did on OW IMO. Without knowing the expectations of PA hard to gauge whether this will change Disney's mind for future releases or will they just stay the course as circumstances hopefully improve.

Was there any deaging done on William Hurt? Something felt off with his scenes but considering it's only been a couple of years since they did Civil War I can't imagine any deaging was needed. The nerd in me just wants to question what exactly happened after Natasha gets caught presumably by Ross and co. I assume they didn't want to show that so they could just do the time skip and have Natasha already have her hair changed. I think Taskmaster works well for the purpose of the movie but ultimately the character doesn't really do that much which is disappointing unlike what TWS accomplished with Bucky as Winter Soldier even though they have roughly the same screentime. It's that this was originally supposed to be the first appearance of Valentina as Falcon and Winter Soldier does a better job of explaining who she is. But seems like Yelana has been working for her for a decent time.

Solid movie overall. Really enjoyed the first half of the movie where it leans heavily on Bourne-esque action (though not done as well) but slowly devolves into your standard over the top battles which was expected. Still though really happy with Florence Pugh as Yelena she is one of the few female MCU characters who is allowed to be as quippy and fun as her male counterparts. I liked as well the family dynamic wasn't quite as I expected from the trailers. I do feel there's a better more intimate Black Widow movie hidden within all the excess but overall a nice welcome return to the MCU on the big screen. Some of the online criticisms is a bit over the top in my view only because the flaws on this movie is given a pass on other MCU films IMO.

Marvel is comfort food for casual audiences. And that's actually a good compliment for them. At this point it's more akin to a long running sitcom where each episode/movie has a different premise and different reoccuring characters get the spotlight but the core of it is the same. I enjoy my comfort food very much.
