Strangely, I has always see Transformers movies as a huge adventure with the cast going from place to place doing quest rather than a big ass battle war movie. So I really enjoyed and had the most fun with The Last Knight, along with 1, 2, 4. Dark Of The Moon (the first one I saw in theater) stressed the shit out of me with non stop action in limited urban setting for like a hour and half.

So, at what point do you think the whole cinematic universe thing will stop being successful? More and more contents being add and people find it's a pain to get in the train or keep up with it? Just like how it's big part of the problem that causes comics dying (were they?) while manga are taking over the world?

It's pity that Lightyear flopped. It's one of a few Pixar movies that I really enjoyed. I've always hated Pixar and their way of making animated movies. Trying to appeal to both kids and adults and end up being half assed. Their humour is lame and their character design is silly/ugly and kid-bait obvious compared to Dreamworks/Disney/Blue Sky's Ice Age series. They're trying to hard to be deep and profound with every damn movies, sending some meaningfull messages that's is too hard for elementary kids to understand but too shallow for even teenagers. That's said, Rango >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Avengers doesn't look big to me. The New York Battle looks like a Aliens street biker gangs going wild rather than a world level threat invasion. Putting it next to Transformers 3's Chicago battle, which is a very similar action consequenc, it looks like a joke. IMO many people would agree that among modern blockbusters TF movies are the most massive one in term of scale. DC movies (particularly Man of Steel) are big too.

I really liked the 2nd act. It's a truly fun, exciting adventure but for people don't like human stuff in TF movies it's sure a turn off. Going to see it 2nd time today with my brother. I think most people in developing country don't see a movie multi times unless they're die hard fan or just super liked that movie -

I dont think better taste (better? Lol, more like American taste) has anything to do with TF5 drop when movie like XXX & RE6 are still making a bank, and FF8 is not exactly some kind of good movie either. Franchise fatigue + for the most part TF5 itself being horribly edited + almost nonexistent robots in action have killed the movie potential. Actually, the action has gotten worse since the 2nd movie. Bay seems to forget what make people going to see a TF movie. A decent plot + iconic fight like the forest battle in TF2 will make this franchise back on track. Also I think it's time for Paramount to hire some actor who has worldwide appeal to be the movie protagonist. I like Marky Mark but he's no where as popular as the like of Tom Cruise, The Rock or Statham. -
