  1. Is that possible with the 8.1 score mentioned on the China thread? Or 2x is the standard regardless of WoM? Its score is low compared to other MCU movies.
  2. Ritchie was awesome! Now I feel like I should watch Stranger Things...at least before season 2 premieres. Hoping it's like It and more creepy than outright scary.
  3. Great movie. As someone who doesn't like scary movies I enjoyed it, as did the 5 other people with me. It wasn't really scary like I thought it'd be but there were times I looked away/covered my face. It was definitely creepy and had me squirming at times. I only noticed a couple of jump scares. The movie did begin to feel very long around the middle when you just got scene after scene of It appearing to each individual kid. The kids and their relationships with each other were the best part and I was impressed by their acting. Ritchie was a crowd favorite and his lines got the most laughs. Eddie was also great. Billy was good, but got annoying at some points. Beverly was great, and along with Bill, the emotional anchor. The only issue I had with the kids was how normal they acted at some points after witnessing the horrors It subjected them to. I guess it might have something to do with the resiliency of children. The parents were pretty awful for the most part, and seemed absent, except for the two overbearing abusive ones (Beverly's dad and Eddie's mom). Eddie's mother being overprotective made me suspect she was trying to keep him indoors and safe from the evil she knew was in Derry, but I haven't read the book so she may just be weird. Overall an enjoyable experience. I felt exhausted by the end because I got so invested in their survival. So I probably won't be repeating this in theaters. The only death I saw coming was Georgie so I got anxious wondering who else would die. Glad that the whole group survived. They made the fact that there's a sequel obvious with the Chaper thing and some people seemed surprised by that. Looking forward to the sequel. 9/10
  4. It Cinemark, 7:05pm, 98% full Trailers: Thank You for Your Service Happy Death Day Jigsaw Thor: Ragnarok Blade Runner Justice League Murder on the Orient Express Flatliners Murmurs during all trailers. Laughs during Thor, JL, and Happy Death Day Crowd seemed to like it. Laughter at appropriate times and movement/murmurs during the scares. The girls next to me seemed as scared as I was and I had my hands over my face a few times. The group I went with really liked it, thought it was more creepy than outright scary and the ones who read the book said it stayed true to the book.

  8. Not much of a horror movie fan and know nothing about the books or past versions, but it's pretty exciting to watch this movie break out. Thursday: added 2 shows 7:00PM 121/152 7:30PM 6/82 8:00PM 85/137 8:30PM 12/89 9:00PM 79/125 10:15PM 94/152 Friday: 10:45AM 28/125 12:25PM 27/152 2:05PM 21/125 3:45PM 13/152 5:25PM 64/125 6:15PM 36/89 7:05PM 120/152 - already bought my ticket for this showing 8:45PM 104/125 9:35PM 70/89 10:25PM 107/152 It's had pretty sizable increase in presales over the past 3 days. I'm surprised since I keep reading about how horror movies are more walk up friendly. And I'm not sure how this compares to past movies as this is my first time tracking a movie...
  9. That's pretty harsh. Sure, InHumans didn't work, but I don't see how that means the other shows are trash. It's like saying having 1 or 2 missteps means the whole lot should be scraped. Which clearly isn't the way to go as evidenced by the movies (TIH, IM2, Thor2). Also, I've read some good reactions about the Runaways and I'm looking forward to it. Cloak & Dagger is too far away to tell, but it could also be a good addition. You might not like the ideas but you're not obligated to watch them. I think it's fine that Marvel diversifying their output and it's doubtful Feige has the time or inclination to get involved with the TV side.
  10. Probably because many people are simply buying tickets for movies they'll be seeing that day during the day. At night, the tickets being bought for IT are more obvious and seem to increase because of a decrease in other movie sales. Either that or nighttime is when people think about reserving their tickets for IT...which I find unlikely.
  11. Just rewatched this and it's definitely better than I remembered it. I figured I must've been missing something to not like it as much I should've, especially since I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to CBM. I'd been looking forward to the movie since it was announced and saw it on OD with my best friend (who generally dislikes CBM but agreed to go because I bought the tickets) and siblings. Unfortunately, my friend made a lot of comments about things she found stupid and my brother (5 years old) was bothered by the noise. So basically, it wasn't an enjoyable experience for me and it made me rate the movie lower than I should have. Watching it again alone helps a lot. I was giggling like a loon at a lot of the Diana/Steve scenes. Diana is amazingly awesome and her naivety is surprisingly endearing and Steve's sacrifice was also pretty emotional. No Man's Land! The humor works and the music is so good! Was able to take in the action and dialogue a lot more since I didn't have to comfort a 5 year old/ignore a chatty adult. Only negative is still the Ares fight because it's pretty hard to see. The other fight scenes were much better. I've definitely learned my lesson about who I watch these kinds of movies with. This went from 6/10 to 8.5/10 for me. Looking forward to JL and the WW sequel!
  12. Do they still count the views if it was skipped? Because I got it as a skippable trailer on the video.
  13. Amazing movie. So many memorable scenes. I think I was obsessed with this movie/Nolan/the cast for the rest of that year. The only reason I even saw Looper was because I thought it'd be as good as Inception (it wasn't even close). Definitely in my top 5. One of the few movies I've seen twice in theaters and many times since. I wish I could see it in theaters again, hopefully it's one of those movies that gets re-released sometime in the future. The score is also amazing, especially Time. A+
  14. I watched this about 5 years ago and loved it. I'll admit that I watched it only for Jared Leto. Still found it very engrossing, well made/acted and I loved the ending. A
  15. I remember watching this when I was like 11 and thinking it was very intense/scary but not understanding much of it. At the time, D.A.R.E. was pretty much my only exposure to discussions about drug use/addictions. I've forgotten much of what happened, but I was impressed that Marlon Wayans was so different from his Scary Movie character. The soundtrack remains one of my favorites till today. Might have to rewatch it sometime...
  16. Just watched this and found the fictional scenes wholly captivating, especially the abduction scene and the final confrontation between Tony and Ray. Amy Adams made the rest of the movie watchable plus she has really beautiful eyes. Glad Tony/Edward got his revenge. Overall, I liked it more than I thought I would after reading reviews. B+
  17. Trying my hand at this for IT at the Cinemark near me. Thursday: 7:00PM 107/152 8:00PM 59/137 9:00PM 47/125 10:15PM 45/152 Friday: 10:45AM 18/125 12:25PM 5/152 2:05PM 17/125 3:45PM 8/152 5:25PM 39/125 6:15PM 16/89 7:05PM 50/152 8:45PM 85/125 9:35PM 40/89 10:25PM 26/152 I'm too lazy to do it for the other days...
  18. 1. mother! 2. Thor: Ragnarok 3. Justice League 4. Star Wars: The Last Jedi 5. Black Panther 6. Ant-Man & the Wasp 7. Avengers: Infinity War 8. The Incredibles 2 9. A Wrinkle in Time 10. Kingsman: The Golden Circle
  19. Just finished this movie. I really liked it! Lots of fun, good humor and characters. Like most, I liked Holly (Rice) especially, though Gosling and Crowe were also great. Best scenes were all of Holland's falls, the bee dream and Tally's fall (replayed this scene a few times). Thought they'd delve more into Holland's guilt about his wife, especially after the girl's death but oh well. B+ My only Shane Black movie (besides IM3) and I haven't watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, so I'll have to see that soon.
  20. Ahh...I understand now. Was thinking about it wrong. This is what was stated in WSJ: So that's wrong and the amount Marvel pays Sony actually increases, not decreases, based on increasing performance. Thanks!
  21. This is interesting. I wonder how the bonus is calculated. Maybe based on sales for Spider-Man merchandise for the year or on the movie's performance. It was mentioned in an article explaining the contract for SMHC, that Marvel reduces the $35M bonus they pay Sony if the movie grosses $750M. Maybe they're assuming they'll be profitable at that point, despite not receiving the full $35M, since TASM was profitable at slightly above that BO and with a higher production cost. In that sense, they wouldn't 'need' the bonus to declare the movie profitable. Or they'll reduce the bonus based on the fact that it improved on the last movie. Though I'm guessing Marvel made sure to stipulate a point of profitability in the new contract where Sony would have to essentially admit they made a good choice in choosing to partner with Marvel by 'giving up' extra profit.
  22. IN. I loved The Incredibles and want it to do well. Don't care much about a Han Solo prequel movie as I'm more interested in the newer SW characters. Though it seems SW movies do well with the nostalgia factor, I'll give the edge to The Incredibles. That's mostly because I want it to rather than believing it will because I'm not sure if children will like it. Ancedotal evidence, but I watched the movie again recently with my 5 y.o. brother and 14 y.o. sister. He was very uninterested/ignored most of the movie and she found it boring. It was very disappointing so I'm hoping most kids are not like my siblings!
