  1. I don’t know how to feel about the Hans Solo project. On one end, he is an iconic SW character and a known quantity. On the other hand, I don’t know how it will play so soon after TLJ. Rogue One did fine and that movie had people unknown to the SW saga. I won’t be surprised either way this one goes.
  2. For the summer, I think Infinity War is in the best position to score huge. Seems that Deadpool2 and Incredibles 2 are really close together. They appeal to different demos though. So maybe that will give them both room to thrive. Next year is going to be absolutely fascinating to watch.
  3. I would love the number to be higher, but I would be very satisfied with the 40-42 million. Only time will tell.
  4. Probably not. This behavior went on for 200 pages. Don’t listen to the ones who say they would. Some of them were very defensive about the huge Spider-Man Homecoming drop on the second weekend. I did not see laughing then and why should there have been? That movie made an excellent recovery and it deserves it. Mention that Thor dropped really heavy last weekend and you get the spin. So no, they wouldn’t be laughing if this were an MCU movie. I think they are just young fanboys and girls. There is still that emotional attachment to comic books.
  5. I couldn’t agree more. Some people are gloating because they view this as payback for WW’s success.
  6. I’m sure the pile on crew will continue to haggle about 65 v 67. Could have been much worse. Deadline wrote as low as 6 million yesterday.
  7. BoxOfficeReport.com @BORReport Justice League passed the $100M domestic mark on Monday after grossing an estimated $7.51M for the day. 4-Day total stands at $101.35M
  8. That is horrible. I would be king of disappointed, if it did that. You did not give it any benefit of the 5 day holiday. I see no difference from a regular week with your numbers.
  9. The drop would make sense that only 35% of schools are closed in Norrh America. If Rth is right and he usually is, the drop is 68%. Under normal circumstances, it would have probably been around the 75% that Thor had. I think it is not an apples to apples comparison to compare JL to MJ2 and FB. Those two movies were not CBM, who seem to have greater drops than other movies. I will be happy so long as JL makes ~60 million over the 5 days. If that happens, maybe it can pull a 2.5 multiplier, which wouldn’t be bad. Although the final total would be underwhelming.
  10. Most schools on the east coast are open until Thursday. Canada schools are open. According to Deadline 35% of US schools are closed, therefore MOST schools are open on North America.
  11. Thank you, Rth. I will take a 68% drop. With this movie, it could have been much much worse. Hopefully, it can be around 170 by Sunday.
  12. Interesting. My son has school until Wednesday. I have lived on the east coast my entire life and never got the entire week of Thanksgiving off.
  13. Me too. But I wouldn’t be shocked by 70+. Thor dropped over 70% on its first Monday. Schools are open in the US until Thanksgiving. Monday is whatever. It will get the Tuesday boost and then come the holiday.
  14. I really do hope that it can do the 60-65 million over five days. If that is combined with about 15 million for today and tomorrow, then we are talking ~170/175 by Sunday. Next weekend, it could make -20. That would put it on track to make ~250. A far cry from the expectation, but not a complete disaster. By the way, I trust Rth more than that Deadline guy. If Rth says 6-7 million, then take it to the bank.
  15. From your numbers FB dropped more. I have no faith that JL will drop less than 70%. Thor:R had a great weekend and an excellent Sunday drop and still dropped over 70% on its first Monday. JL is a CBM and those two films you quoted aren’t. But if you’re wish comes true, I will be very very happy.
  16. Does 94 million v 96 million really make a difference at this point? I have never seen more of a pile on thread. The same mocking/laughing/gloating for near 200 pages. I sure hope when a Marvel movie is disappointing (that will eventually happen), DC fans don’t do the same thing that has gone on here. I am a fan of both studios. I loved WW and I also loved Spider-Man: Homecoming and Logan. I think it is very disappointing and sad what happened to JL this weekend. Trust me, we get that the movie vastly underperformed. Horse beat dead, dead and dead.
  17. I loved JL. It was fun to watch. It was not perfect and I can see why the critics wouldn’t rate it too high. The beginning jumps around quite a bit. But the movie is fun. The characters are great. I think this movie cannot be compared to the Avengers. It had no novelty in terms of the main three, since GA had already seen them together in BvS and really were lukewarm about what they saw. The fact that this was a sequel to BvS probably turned a lot of people off, who had invested in that film. I did not think BvS was atrocious. I do think that JL was much better and it’s a shame that the numbers may not bear that out.
  18. I think if JL manages a 93-95m weekend and can muster 30m from M-Thursday and a good hold over next weekend of 50m with the holiday, it should hit 250m finish. Still a very disappointing outcome, but could have been more disastrous. Maybe it can make 500 overseas, especially if it starts off with a strong 200m. 750m is far from 1b, but wouldn’t be a disaster.
  19. Judging by this weekend, if JL sold like it did on NY, it would have opened in the same range as BvS. The sales have been really good today in NY judging by the AMC chain. Obviously judging by the hugely disappointing numbers, NY is an anomaly.
  20. JL disaster notwithstanding, it is a very bad drop for Thor. Even accounting for the holiday last week, it dropped close to 70% from last Friday. However, I think JL would love to switch positions with Thor:R at the moment. Thor:R is an unmitigated success, JL isn’t to this point.
