  1. I completely agree that Black Panther is going to be huge. When the trailer came out, people who don’t even watch comic book movies were posting that they are excited about seeing it. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it well over box office of 350. With that said, I am very disappointed in JL. I enjoyed the movie, but the DCEU is lacking in good will after a string of mediocre movies, led by BvS, although the Limited Ediiton was much better. It is going to take more than WW to fix their problems. This weekend, JL did hurt Thor 3 a lot, but Thor has already made tons of money and is headed to 300+. Thor 3 hurt JL much more than WB probably thought.
  2. Really too bad for JL. I just saw it and really enjoyed it. WB had two big wins this year and two big loses. Maybe a best picture nomination for WW will restore some of the lost credibility back to the DCEU. It would have the distinction of being the first and only comic book movie to do so. Here’s to hoping that JL somehow crawls to over 100 mil this weekend. If it doesn’t, then it doesn’t. You win some, you lose some.
  3. Not panicked yet. No need to be. Pre sales MAY have fallen off, but maybe walk up business will be stronger. Let us wait until tomorrow night to see where this falls. There are people really rooting against this movie here and I can tell that they would be nothing but gleeful to see panick and irrationality. Facts matter. Let us wait for the numbers.
  4. Why does it need to be, if it started off higher? I am just asking because I am a relative novice at this, but a pro at reasoning. Lol
  5. Yes, but he still picked it to open higher than Thor, WW, and SM:H. His latest prediction was 125m because he did not see any growth sufficient to raise his prediction. I wonder whether the same would hold for today, which seems to have seen a healthy growth judging by the eyeball tests.
  6. Thanks, but maybe JL started off at higher initial than those movies. Deep Wang said that it was outpacing BvS and 90% higher than WW at an earlier point this week. Therefore, wouldn't that leave it with less room to grow? Just sayin'.
  7. I thought 300m was locked. Although it is still likely, it is no longer a given.Thor:R is already in the 2-3 million ballpark with 50%+ week to week drops and needs about 80m to reach 300. My guess is that it will still go over, especially if it can get at least 25m this weekend.
  8. JL is killing it in NY right now. Just took a cursory look at the AMC chain website and it is more than holding its own. It is anyone's guess as to what that means until we see preview numbers.
  9. Does any one know what metrics are used by independent trackers?
  10. Lincoln Square 13- NYC- 11/16 6:00 PM- 358/480 9:00 PM- 378/480 12:00 AM- 11/17- 159/480 Looks good to me. If only JL were doing as well in other theaters as the two that I have posted from NY. I am on my phone and missed some show times. Those aren't selling nearly as well for tonight. I will check again later.
  11. JL is doing great in at least one theater in NY. I have not checked out any others. AMC Roosevelt Field 8- 11/16 Looks like they have reserved two theaters for it tonight. Theater 1- Capacity 139 including handicap spaces- 6:00 PM- 81/139 9:00 P’- 63/139 Theater 2 - Digital- capacity of 160 including handicap 6:45PM - 123/160 9:45PM- 139/160
  12. Not really great for Thor. Maybe it will not decrease much today. Thinking it will stay around 3.7m for Wednesday and Thursday.
  13. No, I am not accusing anyone of lying. I think we are calculating differently. I responded to you, because you seemed puzzled by your result. Just wanted to tell you that I was getting the roughly the same thing.
  14. Yeah, I believe you. Just based on the way the page looks, hard to believe the 27 average. I took a screen shot and counted 14 rows with an average of 3 on each row. Then one minute later, it was almost the same result. But as I said yesterday, these are snap shots in time. Hard to tell how they correlate to opening weekend success.
  15. Thor and Daddy’s Home with relatively steep drops. I think Thor still has about 100 million left in him, especially with the holidays coming. Figure about ~25-30m this weekend and maybe 13m from Tuesday to Thursday and it is in great shape to make about 320-325.
  16. With all due respect, that is not an average. You are counting snap shots in time which really yield no value in and of themselves. You could count 19 one minute and 50 the next.
  17. I saw this movie and I don’t know whether WOM will carry the day for it. The movie is very dark and it is waaay too long, which gives it a sluggish feel. I think Ryan Gosling is a fantastic actor and he does well in everything. Robin Wright was also strong in her performance. Jared Leto’s role was brief and unremarkable. The movie gets a 2/4. It was just okay. Nothing more!
  18. I plan to download the book. I have decided to read it, in spite of my fear of clowns. I made it through the movie and I found the characters intriguing, so I want to find out what happened to them from the point the movie leaves us.
  19. I am happy for A:C. It is a scarier movie than It. But It may be a better all around film.
  20. I went into this movie expecting it to be really really really bad, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is not the world's greatest but definitely a nice brainless action flick to help pass time. Michael Keaton remains one of the most underrated actors around. He is convincing in everything he does.
