  1. To be honest I don't think this is SK or the book's magic. Sure the book is really popular and probably had some influence but this number is way beyond that. It is a phenomenon that couldn't have been predicted, think in recent years, Stranger Things of movies. It has a relatively unknown crew(directors etc.), unknown cast and low budget but it just hits all the right notes with the audience to the point where everyone's gotta go check this out just to see what the buzz is about.
  2. ‘It’ Scares Up $11.4M, Biggest Tuesday Ever For September; Stephen King Film To Clear $200M This Weekend http://deadline.com/2017/09/it-movie-stephen-king-tuesday-box-office-record-september-october-box-office-1202168696/
  3. I got it off twitter uh, there was no link, it was just a image. I didn't think someone would make that up. EDIT: Found a link after a quick search - I guess they were referring to worldwide? http://www.financialexpress.com/entertainment/baahubali-2-daangal-set-to-be-beaten-by-it-stephen-king-movie-it-box-office-collections-rs-1150-cr-worldwide-will-shock-and-awe-you-aamir-khan-prabhas-film/853133/
  4. No. It's social media engagement is all from Dylan O Brien fanbase.. it's a cult. It will not amount to much. It's just all his fan girls going crazy about this movie. I would take this with a lot of salt.
  5. The better the opening gets the more I think that this won't have great legs lol. But I could be totally wrong. There's always a movie every few years that just hits all the sweet spots.
  6. Even with all the problems this movie has had post-production wise, like the editing/CGI etc... just Stephen King's characters done right is enough. It's also what made Stranger things a phenomenon. This is the recipe. EDIT: Also marketing and timing. Can't forget those two. This movie had EXCEPTIONAL marketing, one of the best ever in my opinion.
  7. That's because of Dylan's fanbase.. it doesn't amount to much when it comes to box office stats so don't make much of it.
  8. Important to note even with Thor being open for sales, IT is consistently increasing on Movietickets, even if it's by a little. Currently sitting at 84.2% sales.
  9. All in all I think big horror fans are disappointed, but general public is happy with how IT turned out to be. Expect it to be a massive hit because it's not just pure horror. It is one of a kind with it's Evil Dead meets Stand By Me vibe.
  10. I don't even mind if it wasn't that scary. People forget that they watched the mini-series when they were kids.. now they aren't kids, so clowns won't be as scary for obvious reasons. Stop expecting them to be. My biggest issue was with the editing and pacing, I can excuse the pacing because it's based off a massive book but the editing/post production work was really poor in my opinion and resulted in the movie not flowing as nice despite the good cinematography. It was by no means bad but definitely a missed opportunity to make this a masterpiece/classic.
  11. That could just be because movie releases are dry which is the case right now, there's no major release besides IT. The real question is how many of them are sold out compared to movies in the past.
  12. #ITMovie opens ultrawide in massive 4103 thtrs this wknd. Only film to ever open wider in whole AUG-to-OCT corridor was #SuicideSquad.
  13. It is now 75% on Movietickets. I guess @Rumpot prediction of it being 80% by Friday was pretty spot on.
  14. Because he says down the road which implies they're not working together yet. There is nothing that says Andy and The Rock have worked, whereas David is a director/producer of Ballers & IT respectively. He is the mutual so even if they know each other or worked on something which to our knowledge is nothing, David is the connection.. Anyways not arguing any further on this. Either way The Rock didn't just shout it out of nowhere so it's whatever imo.
  15. "we're gonna have some fun working together down the road." That doesn't indicate to me that they're working on something, more of like I'm sure we'll cross paths because again David is a Producer and mutual of both, so it's highly possible he gets them on one project. The connection is with David.
  16. David Katzenberg, one of the IT's producer actually directed The Rock's show "Ballers" on HBO. So I guess that's where the connection is, otherwise I doubt The Rock would give this kind of shout-out even though the dude is a professional sell-out.
