  1. They didn't forget to hand it over, Amazon just didn't announce the new release date. They're distributing it, it was their their job to announce the date. I don't understand why people assumed it meant that it would release on Amazon the same date that Sony had it planned for in theaters. Usually when a streamer buys a movie from a studio they set their own, new release date.
  2. I think Flesicher knew what he wanted to do, it's just that Tom Hardy didn't want to do what Fleischer wanted. According to Deadline: And if I had to guess, Fleischer wanted a more grounded, serious movie while Hardy wanted a more comedic, goofy one.
  3. It wasn't a Sony production head, it was Disney's marketing president. And he didn't really say that they are coordinating on marketing. He said that Sony is absolutely handling the marketing and that they are not working together on the marketing because it is Sony's movie. The only thing he said they are working together as far as marketing is concerned is that they make sure they are aware when the marketing material is being released. And as far as what's gonna be shown in the trailer, there's a leaker on reddit, who as of now has a good track record, that said that in the first trailer they won't show Tobey and Andrew. But still take it with a grain of salt cause leakers can still get things wrong even if they seem solid.
  4. Sony was not the one who was distributing it in China, Tencent was. And Tencent has equity in the movie so this is more on them than Sony.
  5. The box office take of the original, while big for its time, it wasn't huge, it wasn't a big sensation, or leave a cultural impact that would lead to a sequel which would make almost a billion dollars 22 years latter. Jumanji didn't leave a big lasting impact. There's not some big fandom of Jumanji that exists. People weren't keeping it alive all those years. Where was the big excitement when the sequel was announced, helmed by a director whose two most recent movies were Bad Teacher and Sex Tape? The reaction was probably how it was another needless reboot, another cash grab, how they're gonna ruin Robin Williams' legacy, and on and on. The movie succeeded because it was a fun family movie that had very good word of mouth, not because of nostalgia. At least that's my take on it.
  6. Why would it have benefited a lot from nostalgia? The first one wasn't a huge hit and Jumanji is certainly not some big brand which retained it's relevance and there was not some huge pent up demand for more Jumanji. Not to mention, WTTJ had almost nothing to do with the first one considering the characters were new and the concept was flipped. Nostalgia had barely anything to do with it's success.
  7. Well now with this being announced, it gives more credibility to your post. So now it'll be interesting to see how those incredible test reactions that you said will translate in the reviews.
  8. It would be great if someone actually found those interviews but as of know, I don't think they exist. I mean, Deadline reported that Rothman was the one who had the idea of young Drake. I would assume if Tom Holland suggested that, there would be some articles about it, but there's nothing. And also, Amy Pascal doesn't seem to be involved with this movie considering she's not listed as a producer.
  9. What is the source of Tom pitching young Nathan Drake? Or Amy Pascal's involvement? I keep seeing some people talking about that but with no source. The actual reason (at least the one that has a source) why they went with young Nathan Drake was because of Rothman who after seeing Homecoming had an idea to make the movie about young Drake.
  10. I doubt Jumanji will be on the same scale as Star Wars, so I don't think that comparing them means that much. And Production Weekly did report that shooting would start in January.
