Nah this is looking goofy just on the surface (pun not intended) , the goofiness is just there to appeal to the widest audience. You can see there's moments of tension building up in those underwater scenes and when trademark stoic Statham is fighting the shark. This is cut like Skull Island trailer to make it seem filled with levity(intentional or unintentional) but they aren't messing around with underwater creature scenes. Also you can catch a tiny bit of additional footage in the international trailer (it's short and present itself more as a serious monster movie). Imo most of this uncanny goof factor is coming from some of the human cast half of which are gonna get devoured.

That was just barely the icing on cake. RPO is an action-adventure movie with great set pieces first and a nostalgia fest after (that's coming from a guy who haven't even read the books and doesn't get a hard on whenever DeLorean comes on screen). Also this movie is about MMO and China's young online gaming population might just be the biggest target audience of this flick

I'd say Kong numbers overseas + even more if its warmly received in Latin America and Europe (especially Europe)

This ain't Speed Racer, Sharkgirl/Lavaboy or Spy Kids 3 shit we talking. Gamergate is so 2014 (who even remember 2014 ?). RPO is just the pure action adventure movie at its core suited perfectly for family outing with your kids , the nerd and 3d is just a bonus/complimentary for me.

MCU brand in India post Thor 3 is leveling up primarily coz of IW hype and though it's not really an appropriate metric but BP got 100K+ hits (likes ?) on it's BMS page which is super rare for SH movies (maybe the 1st CBM idk) I'd say DP 2 and Ant-Man 2 will do 50-60 Cr INR easily

1) People will probably buy that as the pseudo sequel for Rampage 2) Rampage will actually set the precedence for this movie Big bald dude fighting monster , one guy is more bankable and probably got more budget for his project. This will score in the relative ballpark of Rampage or maybe in the same in all departments. Or this will actual be an above average kickass movie ala Skull Island 0.5 and the BO god of August bless Meg with unsinkable legs so it trumps Rampage
