TWOW will end up so incredibly successful I see no way (barring aforementioned external events) Disney waits that long, they'll want Cameron back filming 4 asap, and probably 5 simultaneously to save money just as with 2 & 3. Just a question imo of whether Cameron wants to make that commitment at his age.

4 already started filming, and parts of 5 were already filmed

I think Babylon is a flop out of the gate. Not me or my wife or folks i know online are talking about that confusing looking mess. Trailer guys need to be fired. 😂

Ow= 12-13m. Kal feels audiences will  pass on this one folks🤕

Trailer did a pretty good job since the film is pretty much three hour extend edition of the trailer

I actually somewhat disagree with your opinion that this needs to be a soaring success; in the past year I think WB has shown willingness to adjust their expectations and adapt to the times, as demonstrated with the bold movie to put their whole 2021 slate in both theaters and HBO simultaneously instead of sticking with purely theatrical releases for this year.

I think they're aware of the precarious situation this franchise is currently in and don't expect this to be a huge success and I personally believe/predict that this will pull decent numbers. A fourth film isn't entirely out of the question and they have HBO Max now, so if all else fails they could make  the fourth one and just have it be an exclusive on there. With Netflix willing to shell out 200 mil for Red Notice it certainly wouldn't be all that strange for have an 100+ mil movie made exclusively for streaming.

will Rowling let the film go exclusively on streaming tho?

Two big problems with this movie:

    1) The first half is Bond coming back to MI6, but we've already had that plot in Skyfall. There's a real sense of diminishing returns here. We've been through this already.

    2) Thematically it's Craig's most serious movie by far and yet someone decided this was the film for his Bond to be lighthearted (without ever being that funny). It really jars, and I can't help but look at you, Phoebe Waller-Bridgers.

I did like quite a lot else about it but I really, really hope the next iteration is content with simple standalone adventures and 100 minute run-times.

Average length for a bond film is longer than 2 hours.

Yeah I'm  really curious how this will open. I think it can match and even beat Spectre, but the whole crowd saying that this appeals to older folks and those folks aren't really coming back to theaters yet makes me question what's realistic for this movie

I agree that reviews will be really important for this. I fully expect this to be on the same level as Casino Royale/Skyfall and that's gonna help it a lot.

I wonder when reviews are gonna drop though. The premiere is on September 28 in the UK which is only a day before it would premiere there which is odd. Obviously that will give it a week to build good buzz domestically, but I still think/hope that reviews will be out a little earlier with some screenings for critics

The reviews are dropping right after the premiere (midnight).

all Craig bond films had their red carpet premiere around 2 days before the release. (Tho sky fall reviews came out half month early)

Critics don't vote for the Oscars, AMPAS does. And AMPAS isn't just actors and directors but craft people too. Dune is a craft player, big time. It's going to sweep crafts which means those people will vote for it. Should be in Top 10. Remember that Best Picture is now 10 spots.

Also, Director Branch nominates fancy direction and Dune is praised for its scale and complexity of undertaking. So that should put Villeneuve in Top 5. Going by previous years, directors that miss are often the ones who direct so called actor's movie. The one's who show technical prowess (be it long uninterrupted shots, or chasing real light or handling 3 technically complex movies back to back) are safe more often than not.

Yes critics don’t vote for oscars, but from reading reviews from this forum and critics, I fear the film is simply not good enough compare to Villeneuve’s other films.

If it can hold around 70s and having 10 spots, bp should be secured. But perhaps there are too many competitions for bd? Larrin, Campion, Branagh, del toro, Coen, Mckay, Ridley Scott x2, and ofc PTA.
