  1. And The New Yorker has an article today lamenting that Free Solo won because it wasn't political. The Favourite and Roma were pretty clearly the top two films of the year, but Green Book was no worse (and probably better) than Black Panther or any of the other nominees.
  2. Himmmm‏ @TheHimmmm FollowFollow @TheHimmmm More FACT: This A-list singer "actress" had people stunned with the massive, legendary jewels she wore to the ceremony. Truth is? According to a security boss at the event – it was a replica! She demanded the producers of movie arrange to pay to insure it for the night or else... 9:19 PM - 24 Feb 2019 Himmmm‏ @TheHimmmm 1h1 hour ago More ...she would not show up. (Right, like she'd refuse a chance for attention). So they had a replica made –out of CZ glass, & paid a studio security guard to pretend he was some ninja guard for her! Rumor has it that wasn't the only faux thing about her tonight. 4 replies3 retweets18 likes Reply 4 Retweet 3 Like 18 Direct message Himmmm‏ @TheHimmmm 1h1 hour ago More Though I didn't see it (I was elsewhere during that part), they say her "chronic health struggles" required a pre-taped vocal track. Again, it's just what I'm told. Good thing she brought off her "singing performance" without any trouble (cough-cough), or Milli Vanilli moments. 4 replies2 retweets21 likes Reply 4 Retweet 2 Like 21 Direct message
  3. I thought Blackkklansman was a really good film up until the ending and then Spike Lee's worst tendencies came out and it became as subtle as an anvil to the head. Too bad he threw a tantrum because he didn't like Green Book. The Favourite was my favorite film of the nominees by far. Roma was technically the best film, imo, in pure craftsmanship terms. But it was painfully dull. Black Panther was decent, but nothing more than that. Green Book was safe and enjoyable.
  4. I'll say this for Trump, it's hilarious how he gets under people's skins and can make them take a thread like this that isn't about him at all and make it all about him, lol.
  5. Amy Adams always seems like one of the nicest and most down to earth people.
  6. When I think of bravery, millionaire actresses making a movie is the first thing that comes to mind.
  7. The main problem, imo, was that they made a sequel to a horror film (a tame one) but took almost all the horror out of the next one. All the reviews and tweets from the actors/actresses made clear how different this was going to be. I still saw it, but am not surprised at all that many found the change unappealing. I didn't mind finding out why the "re-living" was happening, but hated the reason, and I'm sure that played into the bad WOM.
  8. Sorry, but when a clever horror film turns into Weird Science in the sequel, it's not surprising when it flops. The first one certainly wasn't a full-on horror film, but this was even less. I knew what I was going to see (was prepared for less horror) and was still surprised and disappointed.
  9. Was looking forward to this until the stars retweeted "reviews" saying the movie was basically a comedy and made a point to downplay any horror
  10. Saw both. Coleman was better. I do admit I thought The Wife wasn't a good movie at all and I really liked The Favourite.
  11. The old career achievement masquerading as a legit Best Actress performance. Olivia Coleman got robbed.
