So happy to see Marvel back!!!! I don't think BPWF can even make it to 300m RMB though, unless Disney decides to postpone the streaming schedule.

That's why I said "if it gets an extension". I know it will compete against local juggernauts during the CNY even if it gets an extension, but I think it can still manage to get a significant boost from the holidays.

Looks like A2 will have great staying power as more and more big cities are recovering from covid breakout. It will take some time for the more hesitant people to get out and go to cinema. Hope A2 gets an extension. I am still hoping for 2B. And I swear to god if BP2 somehow gets a release date in China, I will go back to China for the midnight showing, even though I have watched the movie twice.

MCU fandom peaked around 2018-2019. It's not only about the number of fans but also the level of zealotry of the fans. Number-wise, MCU fandom probably peaked after EG. But most fans probably won't feel as fanatic as they were when waiting for IW and EG. 2018-2019 was the best time to be an MCU fan.

Marvel & DC fans only sabotage each other. There are also many nationalists out there who think they are doing the righteous thing by tattletaling. And some social media or bloggers do so for views/hits/likes.

I can say that the visuals in the IMAX intro/countdown were more striking than the Avater trailer.

Shang Chi will certainly make its debut; after all, even Kevin Feige himself made a video to debunk the "insulting China" narratives, Venom 2 will certainly make its debut; after all, China Film Bureau only had beef with Marvel Studios, not with Sony. Spiderman: NWH will certainly make its debut; after all, it has a shot for 2b RMB, something that the market needs badly at this point. Sing 2 will certainly make its debut; after all, it's a cute animation movie. Top Gun 2 will certainly make its debut; after all, Tencent invested in the movie. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will certainly make its debut; after all, its official account on Weibo has announced it. Black Adam will certainly make its debut; after all, it is Marvel whom China Film Bureau has beef with, but DC has had a good record the past two years. WoM in Hong Kong is decent as well, not very good, but better than DS2. So I also wonder why the reception is so poor in SK.

MoM is a perfect movie for Mother's day: its name is MoM and it's about a mother's love for her kids. Take your mother to DS: MoM.

Many Asian markets have new releases on Wednesdays, including HK, Singapore, Thailand, and SK. I think DS1 did better than TB in most if not all of these markets. So not really surprising. Markets that TB did well (e.g., UK) usually have new releases on Thursdays or Fridays.

They need China to get to Top 1. But many Marvel movies can still get to a billion even without China. No way home proved it. DS2 will prove it again. Of course every movie can make more money with China, but it's already at a point where it's not worth the efforts. Not worth it.

It's not like Marvel needs China anyway. Just a shame that fans won't be able to watch the movie in theaters. No need to apologize. It is not like this movie was gonna get a green light even before this happened. No need to kowtow to this overly sensitive government and its fragile citizens.

I do hope BW gets the April 30 release date in China. Labor Day Holiday this year is gonna be a 5-day holiday (correct me if I am wrong). BW can easily hit 200m USD in China with that release date. PS: BW is currently tending on Weibo after the news that it MIGHT be released on April. Marvel fans have been waiting long for an MCU movie.

It's probably just me but I feel like Margot Robbie is overacting as HQ, which is kind of annoying.

I am deeply saddened by this, and a lot of my friends are. Many of my fiends spoke up in social media, asking for freedom of speech. This is the first time ever in my life that I saw people become so vocal in political affairs. Sadly, I don't think it will change anything, but at least we tried this time.
