  1. I like a single number so I can average things in Excel without having to do Math.

I'm like, No. Who do you think you are? Frozen? 😇 Joker's T-1 sells are basically tied with Lion King. Very impressive run here. Cinemagic's feels more grounded with a 8.6 to 10.8M range. In a fun second act twist, Dark Phoenix -- the only consistent comp -- has turn into an outlier at both theaters. We'll know tomorrow.

  4. No. No. I am only showing what my theaters comps are. I am not throwing them around, and I have been very clear since the start that Lincoln Square over-performs for blockbusters. Please don’t generalize the data.

Joker Thursday Previews Joker Theater Today 9/23 9/25 9/27 9/30 Total % SOs Tele SOs Shows SM Cinemagic 19 14 35 44 63 2290 2.75% 0 0 16 Lincoln Square 13 295 1082 1312 1432 1727 5819 29.67% 0 2 17 Good weekend sales for LS13. I'm excited that the standard shows had good increases in sales across the board. That's excellent for the film. Meanwhile, Cinemagic's either poised to pull a TS4 and be Walk Up Central on Thursday, or it's decided it doesn't care about the Joker. (I think it's more the former.) v Comps T-3 Day Movie Sold % Est Southern Maine Cinemagic Joker 63 -- -- Godzilla 73 86.30% 5.44M John Wick 3 60 105.00% 6.20M Lion King 202 31.19% 7.17M Dark Phoenix 35 180.00% 9.00M Toy Story 4 66 95.45% 11.45M Lincoln Square 13 Joker 1727 -- -- Dark Phoenix 1088 158.73% 7.94M Godzilla 857 201.51% 12.70M Endgame 5259 32.83% 19.70M John Wick 3 486 355.35% 20.96M It: Chapter 2 865 206.59% 21.69M Lion King 1763 97.96% 22.53M I present to you, a Tale of Two Theaters, music by Hildur Guðnadóttir and lyrics by Todd Philips. Act One, Cinemagic. Oddly enough, I feel like Dark Phoenix is the best comps. Comic book property, devoted fanbase that isn't as broad as the MCU's family friendly umbrella, going to be frontloaded AF. It's also the ONLY movie at to be remotely close in comps at both theaters. I don't know. I'm just going HMMMMM. HMMMMMMMM. We still have three days. We'll see. Act Two, Lincoln Square. I don't know if I can use "it's the IMAX screen" cautionary explanation anymore. It's still only behind Lion King and Endgame. It's so far ahead of the other comps that if you'd look just here you'd think it's going 20M+ in previews. (Which, if it does that, I will LAUGH. Just LAUGH.) . So I think the moral of this play is: it's gonna be the biggest we've seen in a long time. And here's my interpretive dance of that thesis:
  6. If I probably did that I would probably place higher 🤔 . It *is* a thought.
  7. Tbh, I can’t tell if those ads during the football game with the giant text from the critics are meant to be serious or parody. 😂😂
  8. 1. Judy 2. Knives Out 3. Frozen II 4. A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood 5. Cats. 6. The Lighthouse 7. Last Christmas 8. Ford v Ferrari 9. Maleficent 10. Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker

  10. Joker Thursday Previews This information is from Friday's sales, but due to Mom hogging all my attention, and then binge-watching all eight episodes of The Politician, I finally got it reading for posting. Joker Theater Today 9/23 9/25 9/27 Total % SOs Tele SOs Shows SM Cinemagic 9 14 35 44 2290 1.92% 0 0 16 Lincoln Square 13 120 1082 1312 1432 5819 24.60% 0 2 17 So this forced me to go through my data and clean it up for easier access, so that's good: v Comps T-6 Day Movie Sold % Est Southern Maine Cinemagic Joker 44 -- -- John Wick 3 46 95.65% 5.64M Godzilla 47 93.61% 5.90M Lion King 143 30.76% 7.07M Lincoln Square 13 Joker 1432 -- -- Godzilla 790 181.26% 11.42M Dark Phoenix 915 156.50% 7.82M Lion King 1595 89.78% 20.64M SMCM is clustering together rather nicely for a 6.20M average. LS13. SO, it's not going to make 20M on Previews. Yet it's a good indication at how pre-sale heavy the movie is at Lincoln Square. Only Endgame had sold more at the same time. (I don't have date to date data, but AEG was at 3000-ish on Day ONE, so nothing will ever catch that until Frozen or Star Wars comes out. The Comps are higher, yet they always are. That's my next goal -- to figure out how much higher they are on average. (This is more a long term, needs to be completed before Frozen, project.)
  11. @filmlover omfg i just got to episode six. ETA . omg @filmlover I just finished. I was like what the fuck was that. And my bestie was like: "that was Ryan Murphy, drunk on unlimited power and without an editor, no longer concerned with things like Logic or Appealing to Heterosexuals." So I'm definitely in the "It was Full Camp (Or Baroque as Ryan Calls It)" Camp. I didn't find any of it emotionally moving (aside from Judith Light's character) but I did find all of their arch acting and breakdowns delicious. I have most thoughts but they are all spoilers
  12. Okay I just finished the first episode and I love how no one on the show feels real. Every time Ben Platt has a breakdown I just die in hysterics. And I love how Gwyneth Paltrow is acting like she did a completely different show. It’s a hot mess. It’s Ryan Murphy without limitations and without an editor. I am LIVING. What glorious gay trash.
  13. This is where I've been privately (cause LOL @ going in the Joker Thread right now) for months.
  14. I apparently didn't catch this until now. I am starting tonight. I had my mom's Class Reunion tonight, so I had to help her out yesterday and today. I have heard mixed things. But my friend is like, "there is shit here you're gonna love for the LOL" so I'm still kind of hopeful.
  15. I think sometimes Priscilla gets overshadowed by To Wong Foo or The Birdcage. It shouldn't. It's got such a punk rock, 90 indie vibe that allows for some really honest and beautiful character work. Berenadette Bassenger is glorious. Even watching the film in 2018 her character feels like a breakthrough in representation (even if she's played by a cisgender man; but it was the 1990s). I love how the film never shies away from the prejudice and homophobia the characters face, but it refuses to wallow in it. It's not about Suffering TM. It's about two middle aged people, and their annoying Eve Harrington youth, on a road trip trying to figure out their lives. That's beautiful. Add in some fabulous costumes and great music, and you have one of my favorites not only of the year, but the decade.
