The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo
Cap replied to grim22's topic in Numbers and Data
Between it being super dead for hold overs and superhero films fountloading, it would make the most sense to over book screens on Joker OW. That's when you're going to get the most captive audience. You can always go back to one screen the following weekend. -

I will say what I'm doing right now is going back through the thread and compiling all the data into a spreadsheet. I will probably go back as far as Pulse Dying (#RIP) since that's when most people jumped on board. (Also - if people have their OWN spreadsheets with their past data, and want to forward them to me, that would quicken the process.) I kiiiiinda of like everything together in this thread. Maybe we could just pin some posts and have that be the overall post we update with final results? IDK. What do other people think? -

I am still playing with this, and @TalismanRing and @A Star is Orm gave OW not Previews, so they will be worked into another spread sheet. But for NOW: Tracker Cap Cap @DAJK @Eric! @FlashMaster659 @Inceptionzq Thread Actual Accuracy Region LS13 SMCM Victoria Philadelphia Inland Empire Denver Rambo 0.455 1.18 1.25 1.23 1.2 1.35 1.26 1.3 96.92% Downton 1.65 N/A 2.15 1.64 1.3 1.93 1.734 2.1 82.56% Ad Astra 2.68 N/A 1.35 1.29 1 1.9 1.644 1.5 91.24% -
I am not shocked about Rambo. Looking at the Tracking Thread there were warning signs. I did a quick glance/count at two of the theaters I track for the rest of Friday: SMCM 12 - Rambo 35 - Ad Astra 139 - Downton Abbey (and Even though I checked it after the 12 o’clock show, when I looked last night at 12 o’clock show was like 1/2 half so add another like 61 for 200) LS13 56 - Rambo 885 - Ad Astra (estimated 775 from IMAX. Just eyeballed it) 750 - Downton Abbey (estimated 550 from Dolby) So I expect DA to take the crown easily this weekend.

Ad Astra - Downton Abbey - Rambo Only Rambo's doing Thursdays at Cinemagic, so let's start there: v Comps Final Day Movie Sold % Est Southern Maine Cinemagic Rambo 37 -- -- John Wick 3 186 0.199 1.17M Hobbs & Shaw 146 0.253 1.47M OUATIH 237 0.156 .905M 1.18M Looking good. Looking like the rest of the comps, so why don't we go to Lincoln Square. I did say it was selling amazing. But did you notice the asterisk. Cause... As for the rest of LS13: v Comps Final Day Movie Sold % Est Lincoln Square 13 Ad Astra 743 -- Est Godzilla 1102 0.674 4.23M Dark Phoenix 1383 0.537 2.68M MIB3 653 1.153 3.57M ITC2 1174 0.632 6.64M 4.28M D Abbey 409 -- Est Rocketman 470 0.87 1.52M Yesterday 334 1.22 1.53M OUATIH 1232 0.33 1.92M 1.65M So Ad Astra's coming in hot due to the IMAX screen. I actually think 2.68M is its max range. I think 1.65M works for Downton Abbey, but would not be shocked if it got into the 2s. Note: even though my local Cinemagic didn't do Thursdays basically the entire weekend is paaaacked. Friday's a 147/448 (32%), Saturday's 79/448 (17.6%), and Sunday's 37/448 (8.25%) for a total of 19.5% of presales for the weekend. That's A LOT for Cinemagic. And I call the color PINK for the chart. Gotta keep those gender norms in tack. 😘 -
