Dumbo is a bomb that no one cares.shazam is different.Nowadays, fanboy war is toxic.Zachary is So kind to those fanboys. But they don't treat him well.Anyway, shazam will be profitable. Those fanboy wars are meaningless.
Brie treats fanboys well and got attacked worse. The fanboy environment is too toxic nowadays.

True. Shazam did kinda bad in China. Dumbo did atrocious and bad in US. Dumbo is an absolute flop hopefully ending Burton with Disney forever. Shazam is good enough to get a sequel, just not loved WW.
Unlike Shazam, dumbo's ow in China is expected. Also dumbo has a much better WOM there too. Chinese people really hate Shazam.

Only Deadline says it's has a $100m budget (BOM probably using Deadline as a source), Variety says it's $80m, and Hollywood Reporter between $80m and $90m.
Deadline gives the latest update with additional photography from last December.

Shazam completely tanked in China. Saturday dipped over 30% from Friday..

Has any superhero movie dip on Saturday, not to mention over 30%?

At this point Shazam!:
1. Lower budget SHM(-$100)
2. Cinemascore (A)
3. Critic (90+)
4. Fun, popcorn flick and family friendly
5. 50M+ OW
<What else to be a hit>
Terrible Chinese ow

Shazam's performing like a comedy OS, which considering the movie itself isn't surprising. It's budget is so low it doesn't need OS to save it as long as it gets into the mid 50s+ this weekend and has good legs.
Shazam has a budget of 100M. Huge for a "comedy".

What an exciting run full of suprises from Captain Marvel! In a way a metaphor for the MCU's filmography.
People are really loving CM. It got a great cinema score and great legs.

Wait, how badly is Shazam doing? I figured it wouldn't do that big (it's not every blockbustery compared to say, Aquaman or even Deadpool) but to hear it's bombing is disappointing.
It bombed in China for sure. 8.0 rating on Maoyan indicates terrible legs.

Is this confirmed? Because the app also shows reviews from people who does not have the ‘bought ticket’ ticked under their reviews.
Yeah you can still rate and leave comments but it doesn't count towards the average rating.

Up to 7.9 now. More people who have actually watched the movie are reviewing. Lol
From the app, if you filter by latest comments, the latest comments from people who have bought tickets are mostly 8 - 10 points.
Hope it climbs to above 8.
Maoyan only counts the ratings from those who actually bought tickets.

BP has 8 in Maoyan I think. It ended up with 1.6x multiplier. Maybe the same will happen to Shazam.
Black panther has a 8.4 with 1.6x. Can't wait to see the leg of Shazam lol

I think it is just easy to root against Disney because of their practices, doesn't mean I want every Disney IP to suffer, I hope dumbo does ok.
It's easy to hate on Disney for some people because Disney has dominated so many genres in movies and related industry.

F8 was a sequel to $1.5B but partially the reason it made that was because Paul Walker passed away. Come on now.
No one knows exactly how much Paul Walker boosted the box office. I guess: very minimal. He didn't play any big role outside FF.

Perfect example: Fast 8. Fate of the Furious did $1.2+ billion. I don't believe CM will catch that number. It was treated as "meh" on here. Both movies probably cost around the same ballpark to make, F8 did better overseas and CM is doing better here in North America. Nobody was tracking F8 every day and saying what a great run at the box office it's having. In fact, people were saying it should have done more. Again, CM will not reach $1.2B
Becase both F8 and Jurassic2 are sequel to 1.5b ww while CM is a debut super hero movie.

Problem for Captain Marvel is most people shrug their shoulders when asked about it.
most people shrug their shoulders and give it an A. You should stop considering people around you as "most people".

Isn't that common to open around 100m or lower and be in the summer for a SH movies ? Ant Man, Captain America, Thor, Guardian of the Galaxy, Iron Man, Spider Man Homecoming,
None came close to that multiplier.
That's true. Probably female audience don't always rush to theaters on opening weekend?
