  1. Yeah The Accountant 2 and Simple Favor 2 going straight to streaming sucks so bad. I'm guessing the budget for each of them is gonna be 2x the budget for the original films'. Still fucking lame on the creatives' parts and the studio's
  2. The SHE WILL RETURN. WITH A VENGEANCE. tagline drop in the trailer goes so hard. Can't stop watching.
  3. Yeah I don't recall Deadline or whoever ever doing a write up on that strategy, for those 2 movies, Uncut Gems outside the US to Netflix, Saltburn did the same thing outside the US and UK. But that was already an Amazon MGM movie, so I guess those weren't sales.
  4. Lionsgate just sucks. Guy Ritchie needs to start hooking up with big studios like WB again It seems like they just can't figure out a hook for this, despite the fact that it's filled with popular jacked dudes and is a cross between like Kingsman and Inglorious Bastards. I assume a budget of at least $40m too. Would be embarrassing if they can't get this to like double digits/teens OW, but that's looking more and more likely to me. Worth noting that it's coming out on Prime in most international markets (A strategy that I hate). I always wonder how much they make from those sales... Enough to meet its production budget?
  5. Looks incredible, can't wait I don't think it's the CGI that's bad necessarily, it's just that it all looks incredibly digital, moreso than Fury Road
  6. $20m. It'll be fine Though, with that budget, this should be a much easier hit. Would be a shame if it can't at least double that WW
  7. I agree with a lot of this. I think a lot of Venom 2 is actually super interesting in how weird and unconventional it is. The carnage stuff isn't great but a lot of the other stuff is interesting and pretty fun My worry for this is the director. A first time director. I'm sure Tom Hardy is like basically co directing this. But the last 2 comic book movies we've gotten from first time directors are Dark Phoenix and Madame Web. As Elon Musk would say, Concerning I think the budget will continue to be fairly low, probably like $125m for this so I think it'll do well enough. But I think Venom 2s performance is the ceiling. I'd predict a $400m+ gross, as long as it's on the same level as the other 2 movies. If it's a disaster like the 2 movies I mentioned, it could be fucked
  8. I like the title lol. It's fun I'm surprised it moved up to October 25 instead of just taking the coveted November 1 spot. I'm sure something will move to Nov 1, which will cause this to only get 1 week of PLFs, probably. Like filmlover said, I think it'd be a good idea for Gladiator 2 to go to Nov 1 or Nov 8. Maybe Sonic moves up from Christmas too. 3 animated filmes in the last 2 weeks of Dec is too much, though I guess they're a little bit more unconventional (Lotr, Lion King, Sonic).
  9. Literally could not think of who you're talking about other than Butler, who looks cool anyway. Hardy, Damon Herriman, Michael Shannon, Norman Reedus, etc all come across as rugged and rough
  10. I just think it's so nice to have Tom Hardy being in genuinely good movies again. I standby that this has potential for a mini breakout/decent performance. And I think this is a better trailer in that it shows a lot of the violence and action and focuses on the guys and the gang. But the trailer is making very little splash online from what I'm seeing. Focus/Uni's gotta push it a little more
  11. A new trailer for this has been rated. Longer than the first one. Maybe it gets attached to Dune Part 2 Having seen the Horizon trailer, I think this should move up, say to May 31. Nothing else is on that right now. Slated for June 21, the week after is A Quiet Place and Horizon. A Quiet Place could easily go over $150m DOM given the franchises track record, and Horizon feels geared towards a very similar audience as this. I think June 21 is suicide. It's legs would be killed imo. May 31 is empty and then the week after has 2 movies that probably would top out in the $20m OW range at best (The Crow and The Watchers)
  12. Dune Part Two 7 pm IMAX Advanced screening 100% full Trailers: The Watchers (very tense) Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes The Fall Guy (Some chatter but I'm not sure if it was even about the movie) Furiosa (some chatter, heard someone say "Fuck yeah". It plays well on the big screen, but holy fuck I think they made such a poor decision not putting a true money shot in the trailer. Was hoping trailer 2 would be attached to this. If it doesn't come out before this movie, I think that'll be a massive misfire by WB. This trailer does not give you enough) GxK Lots of laughing, mostly due to Stilgar. Gasps at a decision Paul makes towards the end. A couple of claps at the end but it didn't take off. It's hard to say if people were disappointed, or if the ending is (very vague spoiler) I'm leaning towards the latter
  13. Yeah I'm thinking, if theres any validity to this, maybe gross costs rose to that $300m amount, but with massive tax credits, they got it down to around $220m-$250m (as the article says Paramount is alleging was the cost). That's a bit mroe plausible. But still.... How do you shoot a movie like this in 49 days (any other director would take nearly twice that many days) and get the budget that high. I just dont get it lol
  14. Damn, poor Ana. I don't feel like it's really gonna happen for her. Besides the standout sequence in No Time To Die, her post Knives Out career has been pretty dire between Sergio, Night Clerk, Wasp Network, Deep Water (which I actually really like), The Gray Man, and now this looking like it sucks. Maybe they can fix it with Stahelski coming in but definitely a tough scene. Obvious terrible idea having Wiseman do this EDIT: Can't believe I forgot about Ghosted, which was easily the worst of the bunch
  15. Wanting to add on to this, Venom 3 also has a first time feature director. Last times that's happened for a CBM, we've gotten Dark Phoenix and now Madame Web.... I think Venom 3 should still be mostly fine box office wise, but they need to be really careful with that movie. It can not be a complete disaster the way the other 2 movies I mentioned were. We dont know much about it but there doesn't seem to be any exciting additions to it. Venom 2 at least had Carnage and Woody Harrelson. Venom 3 has.... Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor. No one knows who else is returning or what characters are in it. Can't imagine it's very exciting
  16. But I think the Olympics thing is when they were planning on dropping it on Disney+. That was in the original article Studios would rather boost their dumb streaming services than their box office. 'Hey, liking the olympics and all the swimming stuff? Watch Disney's new Swimming movie now on Disney+."
  17. Hmmm I'm wondering how limited....... That's an odd choice. Wonder what the strategy is. There's nothing else on that May 31 slot, Boys in the Boat did well in the US... Wonder if they mean it's gonna expand after, or it'll get a limited Netflix style run in theaters and just go to Disney+ after. That would suck
  18. I agree. Hence, why I think Apple's gonna be waiting a little bit longer to have their first true theatrical hit. I think both of those 2 upcoming films have legit potential, but they're spending way too much on these package deals. They both should be substantially lower than KotFM, Napoleon, and Argylle though
  19. I'm curious how expensive these are. A Scarjo/Tatum romcom sounds incredible on paper, but this is a space race movie isn't it? I'm pretty sure that's the backdrop at least. Could they be astronauts? That would mean it'd be like a $100m+ movie. Wolfs with Clooney and Pitt should be a slamdunk. But can Apple keep that budget to idk $50m? It's literally just them two and the next most famous person is Amy Ryan. I'm sure Pitt, Clooney and Jon Watts all got $10m+... I'd bet at least a $60m package/budget for that...
  20. Yeah I've thought about this a lot. If Apple or even Amazon had bought the Knives Out rights, we'd be thriving right now. Rian Johnson really sold out to the worst case scenario streamer
  21. Has someone ever been as washed as Matthew Vaughn? I'll still see it I think, hopefully I'll enjoy it, but I really disliked both Kingsman 2 and The King's Man.
