  1. Gimme that 70-day OW baby, only need 67 days of previews.
  2. Looking at presales, really seems like today will be the only lull day of the first 11 😮
  3. I think those late weekend records will literally stand forever, as in the content consumption model fully turns away from theaters before ticket inflation can get the job done.
  4. A+ cinemascore is strongly predictive, that’s just the facts. The OW was clobbered unbelievably, yes, and that introduces som additional uncertainty. Perhaps this will play super frontload despite the spectacular reception. But history suggests not, movies that demolish the OW record by a large % tend to have good legs.
  5. The real reason for the merger finally uncovered
  6. I thought this was coming, but I really don’t like that they wrap up the MAGICAL ZOMBIES THREATENING TO PERMANENTLY END ALL LIFE IN WESTEROS plot in episode 3 like a side dish, and have the season climax be fighting the mean, mostly abandoned by her allies, mortal woman who wants to sit on a pointy chair for the next couple decades. There were points when it seemed like the books/show were trying to show how foolhardy it was focusing on small inter-kingdom conflict when this huge existential threat loomed, but the final season structure is like “lol, nope, NK was only the secondary antagonist, Cersei is endboss.”
  7. Still in shock at taking down the Bond 7-day.
  8. Endgame claimed a total of about 5 Fandango days then, yeesh. Could go years without another movie claim a single one!
  9. 17:00 Pacific 4/28/19 (End of opening Sun) 1 89.9% Avengers: Endgame 2 1.9% Captain Marvel 3 1.9% The Curse of La Llorona 4 1.4% Shazam! 5 1.3% Breakthrough Llorona seems like it’s returning to being above CM for the dailies? And Endgame now with a downright embarrassing sub 90 😛 Should be a quiet week, all upcoming openers are so small they might not even show up til Thurs.
  10. Highest guess wins each category, of course. The shocking thing is that for each category, the highest entry was closer to the the average than to the actuals. In no case did even the boldest guess deviate from average by even half as much as reality!
  11. This works much, much, better than a conglomeration of 17 movie posters has any right to (yes, 17. 5 are missing. Identify them without looking up any posters, if you dare).
  12. When your subsidiary releases 5 movies in 15 months and they outgross: the 8 movie Harry Potter series the (currently) 8 movie Skywalker Saga All of Bond All of Middle Earth Their own first 10 movies and fucking every single full year for a full on studio, ever. Disney 2016 holds the record for now with 7.6, and it will get topped by the BP->IW->AM2->CM->EG run I never put this together before, what the actual shit.
  13. Really can’t imagine either of the first 2 getting there. Those stories wrapped well, and it just wouldn’t be the same to try to bring the old cast back so much older or do a fully new one. JurassicxFurious is the kindness of over the top cheesy full on crazy action insanity that I could actually see doing gangbusters despite being a classic “makes no sense” crossover. To indulge in a bit of fanboying, I think KOTOR III could do it if KOTOR I and II were executed properly.
  14. This is what happens when you decide to take only 6 episodes wrapping up 3+ huge storylines, and spend the first 2 doing nothing. This wasn’t the series finale though. It had some cool moments at least, when you could see, and we’ll see what the next 3 episodes bring.
  15. 2 epic battle climaxes to decades of buildup in a mega-popular franchise. One got an A+. Perfect balance was demanded
