I think it's also because a lot of people are not interested in that type of movie. It's devoid of any stakes or tension. Plus you already know Han does the Kessel run, meets Chewie etc. You don't really need to see it, let a lone have a whole movie about it.

There was a lack of enthusiasm bordering very close to disinterest among many of the fans.  Nothing close to unanimous but it was certainly common to hear people voice it ever since this thing was announced.  If a big chunk of your core fans aren't jazzed for a movie on a conceptual level, then it's not unreasonable to assume that the a big chunk of the GA will react similarly.  The marketing for it didn't seem like it was crafted with an awareness of that.

Writers never get any blame in discussions about blockbusters for some reason. The director is the quarterback of films apparently. People expect them to answer for all the success and all the failures regardless of if there are additional people to praise or condemn.

For example, the same like 3 people have written most of the marvel movies.

In Solo's case he was also the producer.

I will always believe that Lord and Miller got a raw deal due to Kennedy's indecisiveness when it comes to the new Star Wars movies. I see it as karma that the film is bombing.

Someone who seems to skate by with the least amount of blame attached out of that whole situation is Lawrence Kasdan.  The indications are there that his being very territorial over the script, which was his writing swan song and his son's first truly major writing credit, played a big part in those two getting the boot.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if she steps down, to be honest.

Hmmm, yeah ... that ain't happenin'.  Even if you want to discount the vast majority of hit films she has under her belt as producer as simply a by-product of her long association with Spielberg and her husband Frank Marshall, the successes at Lucasfilm under her tenure alone has her in a position to eat an outright flop and hold on to her job with ease.

  5. I had been interested in this when they announced it but after seeing that trailer ... yeah, it's a pass.  I'm down with toilet humor but it needs to be just a little clever to take in well over an hour of it and almost none of that was.  They seem to be leaning way too hard to on "They're puppets!  Sayin' and doin' dirty shit, HA!".  That can be a start but it would wear thin quick.

    Isn't Thanos an Eternal?

Hope they don't kill him in A4 because they're setting him up to be an all-time great.

Yeah he was an Eternal that carried the Deviant gene, which was why his physical appearance who so different from the other members of his race.

That I knew, but thanks for the confirmation. :)  I was more asking if different types of shows showed up on Disney Channel versus XD.  That is, do they have slightly different focuses, or is it pretty much all the same with small exceptions.

Just trying to suss out how big of a deal it is for this to be heading to the mothership rather than XD, beyond more potential eyeballs seeing it.

DC targets a slightly larger age range, from preschoolers to young teens.  XD focuses on boys ages 6-11.

The "in association with marvel" has me interested. The movie looks good, and I love how venom looks

It might be new for the Sony movies (I think they only ever gave Marvel a production nod in the openings before) but the Fox movies have all  been "in association with Marvel ________ " as far as I recall.  Pairing it with the logo is the only real new thing here.

The story I read...and I make no claim as to how accurate it is...is that the film got greenlit only after GDT left the project, since the Budget GDT wanted was a lot more than any studio was willing to risk on a borderline sequel, and after GDT walked away they got the budget down to a figure the they could find a partner for.

I thought that was the story behind him not directing Hellboy 3?

Part two of SyFy's post-Jedi Night Dave Filoni interview.

The comments about the wolf are... interesting.  Not sure how it'll play in the greater fandom, given how much some folks like neat cut-and-dry answers though.

Yeah and anything that invokes Mortis is going to immediately stir some ire with some fans.  Like TLJ many tended to run either hot or cold in their reaction to that particular story arc from TCW.

    Mid episode musing:

      Hide contents

They sure aren't being subtle in this episode about the possibility of Kanan biting it/leaving....

And Kanan acts like he KNOWS he's leaving/dying.

Don't get me wrong here the episode was good.  But they did telegraph Kanan's death way too hard in the lead up to it.  It was so obvious it was going to happen by the time it happened it undercut the impact of it in the moment for me personally.
