The stylistic choices the director makes in terms of the editing make this a subpar movie.The acting is phenomenal though, and I would recommend seeing it just because of that. The movie would have an engaging scene that would quickly transition into satirical picture/meme/music/madness lol. If the movie did not include that element I would've rated it higher. Those parts really took me out of the film, and for such a serious topic was not needed. B-

The movie was downright awful. From the synthetic wigs that mera and Nicole Kidman wear(for gods sake could they even bother to brush the fucking hair or spend some type of money so it didn’t look so bad?) I have never seen such bad wigs used in a high budgeted movie. Yikes. Every scene with any dialogue had to end with an explosion. It was action overload. They would talk for two seconds then... EXPLOSION!!!! It gets too exhausting after awhile and overdone. I understand that it’s a superhero movie, but at least let me get some semblance of a story, character development, etc. the scenes where he was young or with family last for 2.5 seconds. The dialogue in this movie is the most cringeworthy I have ever seen. I thought ant man and the wasp was bad, but this is way worse and it isn’t even close. “I could’ve just pee’d on it.” And the scene where the guys take a pic with him at the bar with his PINK smart phone lmfao fucking ridiculous. How could anyone write this and have the gall to actually turn in this script? The worst part is that the script was actually approved by people. Every “joke” in the movie fell flat and Momoa and ambers chemistry was nonexistent. You can’t have two actors like this with such cheesy dialogue. It’s just not going to work. Also, what was up with all the random music throughout the film? The most vexatious one was the scene where black manta was building his suit. That music did not fit that scene at all and was jarring. The positive is that the action scenes were well choreographed and shot really well. Some of the visuals were great. The first action scene with Nicole Kidman was fantastic. At least the movie has that because most people will be entertained by the visuals and action, but for me that’s not all I want from a movie. I thought I was crazy and maybe letting the reviews get to me. But my friend that literally likes EVERY movie, especially when it comes to action films said it was the worst he’s seen this year. He didn’t even want to stay for the end credits scene. I’ve never seen him react so negatively towards a film. C-

Honestly I missed having Star Wars this holiday season. It was starting to become a thing to get really excited about during the winter holiday season. This winter feels off to me because of it. Oh well. not sure how so many on this sub liked aquaman it was a fucking incoherent mess and should be in contention for worst wigs used in a film ever. The hair and make up person obviously didn’t bother to even brush the synthetic wigs mera and Nicole Kidman were wearing.it was very distracting. i was worried that I was letting the reviews guide my judgment, but my friend that literally likes EVERY movie he sees said it was the worst movie he’s seen this year. I was really shocked. He’s never had such a negative response towards a movie especially an action one. He didn’t even want to stay for the post credits scene.

The problem with if Beale Street Could Talk is that THEY DIDNT EVEN ADVERTISE THE DATE ITS RELEASING. the dates changed a lot, too. When I saw the trailer when I watched widows, Suspiria, and boy erased — The ad said coming out in December with no date. Usually films put the date for when it’s coming out for limited release and list when it opens wide. What a bizarre strategy. Someone like me that has been actively looking forward to this even had difficulty finding out when it was coming out.(some BOT users helped with this)
