Mulan Oct 2 seems good. I'm surprised no big movie has jumped on October. i guess WB wants The Witches to do really well around Halloween and that's why they won't put anything else there?

2 weeks is not enough space to have time to decide and Inception is not a new movie.
it might not be a new movie but it might give people something new

Mubi is available in most countries but the problem is so many movies are region locked. I don't think Ema was available in my country last time I checked. the good thing about Mubi though is that it's free if you have a university student email.

I remember Bacurau was rather high on my 2019 list (either top 30 or top 20). that movie had a neat aesthetic. Brazil didn't submit it as their Oscar movie last year they instead went with the invisible life of Euridice Gusmao which I still need to see.

Would like to watch Artemis Fowl but it's not on my local streaming service (who only have some D+ content atm instead of all like I expected). Not sure if I should get a month's subscription of D+ again just for this movie. I mean it's cheaper than renting a movie on PVOD and I'd like to finish watching a couple of Disney shows I didn't finish yet.
Edit: Oh wait, it's coming out on my local streaming service later today (the 13th).
yeah it's coming on the 13th on OSN, we're also getting Parasite and a couple of MCU movies as well later this month.
guess Parasite is coming here because it was streaming on Hulu and that was Disney based?

don't have a prediction for a winner yet so won't rank them but I could see those 5 getting nominated
Kate Winslet, Ammonite (NEON)
Amy Adams, Hillbilly Elegy (Netflix)
Rashida Jones, On The Rocks (Apple)
Viola Davis, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (Netflix)
Meryl Streep, The Prom (Netflix)this many streaming movies probably won't happen but oh well.
alternate: Jessie Buckley in Charlie Kaufman's film (if she's lead/co-lead), Emily Blunt in AQPII or Wild Mountain Thyme, and lastly Hudson might pull a Renée Zellweger if her film is good.
films I think were getting nominated here before the delays
Ana de Armas, Blonde
Frances McDormand, Nomadland
Marion Cotillard, Annette

if it was 10 films for BP the last couple of years.
in 2019 we would've got Knives Out
in 2018 Beale Street and Can You Ever Forgive Me
in 2017 I, Tonya or BR2049

haven't seen that yet but I guess it gets tricky with ensemble casts, and worse when it's a 2-man show like Green Book. co-lead roles going for supporting is a common strategy so it will be up to Netflix,
supporting will be an easier win to say the least. Pitt & Ali wouldn't have won if they went lead in the last 2 years
-
would like to see Hopkins winning, we haven't had a Sundance movie take any of the acting awards since Manchester By the Sea i think
-
yeah i love those lists too, i'm just trying to find a correlation about the differences between the two (besides the occasional discounts)

wonder how long gone with the wind will stay at number 1, my guess few more days and it will be out of the top 10 in 10-14 days?
also that movie is nowhere to be seen on the amazon top 10, is the movie cheaper on Apple? or is this just another arbitrary difference between the two VOD services

Nolan's name is enough star power to get most movie fans out to the theaters, (his name is what sold Dunkirk, otherwise that movie would've made numbers closer to 1917). but even Nolan isn't as big of a draw as a franchise CBM like Wonder Woman or Black Widow

sad no new GoW, might consider getting it for the new Horizon

HBO taking it away prolly gave the film free publicity

I watched Gone With The Wind a couple of months ago and the most annoying part was the submissive slave trope. (idk how common it was for slaves back then to be cool with being slaves but seeing it on screen was discomfort), and there was also a scene where a character gets raped and the movie was trying to portray it as a romantic scene so that was gross.
besides that the movie had a very high production value and could've ended an hour earlier than it did.
-
I wonder if those buying Gone With The Wind now are HBO users who wanted to watch it on the streaming service but can't anymore, or just fans of the movie wanting to support it.

nobody is going to watch these but FYC

I think Da 5 Blood's best chances of winning would be in supporting actor for Lindo (would prolly be category fraud since I heard he's co-lead but the Oscars like rewarding those type of performances in supporting). and score. could also win SAG ensemble.
as for the rest of above the line it will probably get picture/director/screenplay noms, but it's too early to call it winning either of those.
