I'm tempted to mute this thread because im tired of the constant " DAE FB bad & is going to bomb they should cancel" but at the same I'd like to stay up to date with news about thsi movie. (we haven't really got anything since the production delay so maybe there' no point, there is always some cast or crew controversy that lights this thread up).
also for the record I agree that FB3 will likely underperform (probably not as bad some are hoping for because WB was willing to give it a re-write & pushed it back after the reception to the 2nd movie) but repeating that it's going to flop hard 10 times a day isn't going to change WB's mind about moving forward with this series. (even if the film does flop).

I was speaking in terms of the boxoffice and yeah, I'd take TFA over BR 2049 lol.
so you prefer it when safe movies do well on the box office over movies that take risks but flop? didn't you like Ad Astra
I think we have enough safe movies that do well at the boxoffice and it wouldn't hurt if we see studios taking more risks instead of repeating what they've always been doing regardless if those risks pay off (like with EG/IW) or fail like with the FB series.

Spoilerfix your BR2049 LBD rating

Unecessary sequels that have great runs are better than unecessary prequels that flop hard.
hm guess I might not agree with this fully just yet.

I like following the box office runs as much as the next person but I don't think I'll ever feel like "idc if one of my fav franchise gets ruined/milked for unnecessary sequels if it means it will break box office records"

why do people want harry potter 9? we got 8 movies with Harry as the lead and his story was wrapped up nicely, we need more movies focusing on new and previously underdeveloped characters (like what the FB series is doing).
a TFA-like sequel/reboot would be the lamest and safest thing anyone can do to a franchise like this.

they should extend the eligibility period past December too while they're at it

theaters in california will open soon, maybe this won't get pushed afterall..

the harry potter franchise is pretty much a hit all around imo, I can't think of any entry in the HP universe where they completely dropped the ball, even the polarizing ones like DH1 & FB2 have their highs.

if people acted in real life the same way they do on social media, a lot more of those shitty celebs would actually get cancelled and be hurt financially. but twitter turned cancel culture into a meme, (or maybe that's how it always has been)

. But with recent events they might revoke some of her privileges for a while.
hasn't she always been a TERF? if they remove her from the series I doubt it would because of what she does on twitter.
if they want to change the creative team, they might as well replace David Yates with someone else. he directed too many of these and I'd like to see other people's takes on the HP universe.

Just cancel this movie already, lol
they're not going to cancel a profitable blockbuster franchise because the writer is transphobic. (TERF to be specific)

got back into watching movies after a break bc of school
watched Apocalypse Now (cuz heard Da 5 Bloods has a lot of references to it) theatrical cut, it was a wild ride don't think I got the ending but i loved it and the contrast between the colonel that was against the system with the one playing by the system's rules was brillant. 8/10.
looking forward to watch the longer cuts in the future as I felt it ended too soon.

I'm not on the Da 5 Bloods will win best picture train yet, but having Hillbilly Elegy over it is odd, the latter sounds more like the type of film that would just get acting nods above the line.

it's pretty much a label for these movies to put in their marketing since there's no festival. there are other movies that would've played like the Verhoeven, or Moretti films that have opted out of being included in the announcement so they can play at Venice or Cannes 2021.
the Verhoeven one is going to next year's Cannes, it was announced a while ago
also from what I understood those films with the Cannes label can still play at Venice but they can't compete in Venice's official selection. If Venice still happens

So this Cannes announcement...is this for a future festival later this year? Or is this just saying "here was what was gonna debut"?
seems like it's for the films that will get the cannes label and play at Fall festivals later this year. they said there wont be any Cannes awards.
they didn't mention the films that decided to wait for the 2021 Cannes edition like Bendetta so I guess it's not the original selection?

putting WW84 before Tenet doesn't seem like a smart business plan. they need to test the waters with Tenet first, if the attendance is extremely low & legs aren't that sufficient , they can push WW84 to Christmas or next year.
