  1. Venom didn't even have very good WoM though. It had a B+ (Joker also had a B+ but it got that for obvious reasons) and its legs were lower than average for a superhero movie.
  2. 1. Little Women 10/10 2. Parasite 10/10 3. The Irishman 9/10 4. Marriage Story 8/10 5. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 8/10 6. 1917 6/10 7. Joker 6/10 8. Ford v Ferrari 5/10 9. JoJo Rabbit 4/10 (2nd worst Oscar nominee of the decade, the worst one being Bohemian Rhapsody)
  3. With pretty much every horror movie underperforming for the past few months (I think the last time we got a horror overperformer was in August with Ready or Not and Scary Stories), I think BOP is a bit too optimistic here with the movie's opening weekend. I think it's gonna open to 60 mil at best and have somewhere around a 160 mil finish (BOP is too pessmistic with legs so it evens out here).
  4. The Turning's RT audience score seems awful (worse than The Grudge remake's). Are we actually getting 2 F movies on cinemascore this month?
  5. This weekend I think. Fandango, Cinemark, IMAX, and Regal have showtimes up so it should be within a day or two..
  6. Why the hell does this movie have music from Mitski, Empress of, Pale Waves, Soccer Mommy, and Alice Glass? I guess Alice Glass fits the tone of the movie but the rest really don't and now a chunk of my recommended on spotify is from this movie's soundtrack (because I listen to these artists). Edit: The got MUNA and Courtney Love too. The person who chose the artists for this movie's soundtrack has some good taste. Also, surprisingly enough the Alice Glass song doesn't really fit here but the Mitski song does.
  7. But I'm seeing them market it more towards Twitter and Reddit users rather than kids. And I doubt Sonic's fanbase is that big these days. The 25th anniversary party (which btw is one of the most godawful things I've ever seen) a few years ago had a pathetic turn out.
  8. 1. Birds of Prey 2. I'm Thinking of Ending Things 3. Tenet 4. Da 5 Bloods 5. In the Heights 6. Never Rarely Sometimes Always 7. The Invisible Man 8. Mank 9. Last Night in Soho 10. Dune
  9. No affect for for two of those movies (I doubt Sonic was going to do big numbers in China and Black Widow is releasing in May). Mulan might be affected.
  10. A 3-day OW above Bad Boys's 4 day? I could easily see at least one of Birds of Prey, Onward, Mulan, and No Time to Die do it.
  11. Yeah, that came to my mind. I also had a problem with how the payoff (the montage of her standing up and telling Jude Law to f-off) had no set up. I wish the main story wasn't about the Skrull conflict but had more to do with Carol's story (like a normal origin story) so that the final moments would have been more badass. Also, one of the biggest mistakes was them sidelining her best friend (the only exploration of their relationship we get is "look at these pictures of shit we did offscreen").
  12. As someone who has a problem with how the post-Phase 1 MCU movies (outside of the Guardians movies and Dr Strange) have terrible colour grading and look kind of terrible because of how they handle digital photography, this might be a way to get me geniunely excited about this movie.
  13. Anyone know how much of this movie will be shot on film? I think the Phase 1 MCU films are far and away the best looking MCU films (except for Guardians films) and part of that is because they were shot on film. I don't really have a problem with digital. It's just that most directors (this includes most MCU directors) don't know how to use it well. Would be really cool if the entirety of this was shot on film like Wonder Woman 1984 (the only recent superhero movie I can think of that is actually fully shot on film).
  14. A Disney+ series? What a waste of Boden and Fleck's talent. I wasn't a big fan of their Cap Marvel work though so don't really mind Marvel getting another director (maybe this time Marvel should let the directors do more of the action sequences than a second unit team). I was just hoping Boden and Fleck would go back to doing their indie work. I think Lorene Scafaria would be a pretty good choice for the sequel but I'd also like her to write the movie if she joins the movie as director. Only if the whole movie was about this and not some hypocritical war story that takes up too much space.
  15. Oh my god, that scene always has me bawling. Definitely the most emotional scene in the movie. The scene were Racer X tells Speed this is also a great moment (epecially upon rewatch when you know that he's his brother):
  16. Zola is the only movie that sounds geniunly interesting to me from this year's Sundance.
  17. Because the n word was created by white people as a derogatory term and has a horrifying history behind it (I don't need to explain the history do I?). Desi was a term created by Indians and doesn't really have any history behind it. It's not like when the British ruled India, they used Desi as derogatory term for Indian slaves or anything.
  18. Anyone else remember when WB produced the best comic book movie of all time in 2008? And no, I'm not talking about The Dark Knight. I'm talking about Speed Racer. You guys act like the portals scene and iron man death scene in Endgame are the most cathartic and emotional things to happen in a superhero movie but this beats any of that by a mile:
  19. Little kids at a Bad Boys for Life screening? Doubt. Even if what you're saying is true, kids at my Frozen 2 screening laughed when the Dolittle and Spies in Disguise trailer came on (both of which flopped) so its fair to say that kids will find anything funny.
  20. A few showtimes for Birds of Prey are on Fandango (not up for sale yet). Seems like previews are starting at 6pm
