Seems like I'm watching RRR at a later screening tonight so I guess I can actually watch most of this tonight. Will be missing the last hour or so though.
This performative nonsense actually pisses me so fucking much when these assholes booed Michael Moore 20 years ago for bringing up Bush and the Iraq War during his Oscar speech.
Seems like this will be the first Oscars I will miss in 7 years. Was thinking of missing this one for a while because it just sounds so boring and shitty, but I just realised I'll be watching RRR when the Oscars are airing (probably a much better use of my time too) so literally impossible. All the cringe bits will be on twitter anyways.
Gonna end up getting tix for X tomorrow and sneak into a RRR screening (thank god for unreserved seating). Annoyed that I can't even use my regal subscription on this movie.
Fucked up and booked my tickets for the wrong AMC and only realised after I got to the cinema. Ended up watching this at local regal instead. This was so mid and I hate that I wasted an extra hour (how long it to took me to go to the AMC cinema and back) to watch this.
Tatum, Pitt, and Harrison all funny. Everything else not so much. Tatum and Bullock don't even have much chemistry. Barely better than Jungle Cruise.
Feels like Chazelle is going for something "show-off"-ish again and honestly, sounds boring. First Man is easily his best film and that's because of the stunning amount of restraint he showed. Felt a lot like a late-career film and this just feels like a regression.
More like, Apple played it smart by having literally no one watch it. Would not be surprised if Coda was the last nominee most of the industry watched.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar's review of 3 BP nominees: https://kareem.substack.com/p/the-3-most-disappointing-movies-of?token=eyJ1c2VyX2lkIjo1MDIxOTc1MCwicG9zdF9pZCI6NTA3MDUyNDMsIl8iOiJBSms2WCIsImlhdCI6MTY0NzkxMjczMCwiZXhwIjoxNjQ3OTE2MzMwLCJpc3MiOiJwdWItNDgyODU2Iiwic3ViIjoicG9zdC1yZWFjdGlvbiJ9.K53fgebVnTaUbdyloNfXx0WkTu2PSSLwjxS97Mdb9KM&s=r
Surpised by how much of a good writer he is. Seems to have better media literacy than most actual "film critics".
Lol, fuck this. I think my Regal subscription will cover this, but none of my friends can watch it with me now (cuz no one in their right mind will pay $22 to watch it in a mid cinema).
That would be the fun bit of the club. But I'm not too sure about WB's ability to exploit the "representation" aspect in the marketing as much as a studio like Disney's.
I wonder how big this could be. The first superhero movie to target the biggest minority movie-going audience? If people like this, could be DC's highest grossing non-Batman movie DOM (feels like a good idea for a club).
Why is it so hard to maintain connections with people you meet? I feel like it's already hard to meet people you vibe with, and even when you do, it's harder to maintain that connection.
