  1. I guess, 55 million in the US is somewhat a guarantee. So I assume the ww total will be 240-250 million $ when it’s all said and done.

"Downhill" - 1.8 / 7.7
  3. I just made a list of top 20 Highest Grossing Foreign Films that were nominated in any of the Academy Award categories. I put my own estimate for "Parasite" as of this sunday. I checked multiple sources, went year by year, all categories. If I made any mistakes, and someone sees them, please let me know. Hope you like it. The numbers on this chart refer to Global Box Office (theatrical runs only). Film titles in Italics have not been nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, but in other categories (Animated Feature, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Art Directing, etc.) “Spirited Away” (2001) - Japan - 347,800,000 (1 Oscar) “How’s Mowing Castle” (2004) - Japan - 236,200,000 (1 Nomination) “Life Is beautiful” (1998) - Italy - 230,100,000 (3 Oscars) “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” (2000) - Taiwan - 213,500,000 (4 Oscars) “Parasite” (2019) - South Korea - 205,000,000* (4 Oscars) “Hero” (2002) - China - 177,400,000 (1 Nomination) “Amelie” (2001) - France - 174,200,000 (5 Nominations) “The Wind Rises” (2013) - Japan - 136,500,000 (1 Nomination) “Downfall” (2004) - Germany - 93,600,000 (1 Oscar) “House Of Flying Daggers” (2004) - China - 92,900,000 (1 Nomination) “The Chorus” (2004) - France - 88,400,000 (2 Nominations) "Volver" (2006) - Spain - 87,200,000 (1 Nomination) “La Vie En Rose” (2007) - France - 86,300,000 (2 Oscars) “Das Boot” (1981) - Germany - 84,900,000 (6 Nominations) “Pan’s Labyrinth” (2006) - Mexico - 83,900,000 (3 Oscars) “Curse of the Golden Flower” (2006) - China - 78,600,000 (1 Nomination) “The Lives Of Others” (2006) - Germany - 77,400,000 (1 Oscar) “A Very Long Engagement” (2004) - France - 76,600,000 (2 Nominations) “The Grandmaster” (2013) - China - 73,900,000 (2 Nominations) “Departures” (2008) - Japan - 70,500,000 (1 Oscar)
  4. It's a good song, guys. Come on now. I was really pissed when they announced her as a singer of the next Bond theme but this is way better than Sam Smith's, and pretty much everything else besides "Skyfall" from last 20 years.
  5. Increasing number of theaters doesn't guarantee the same average it had while it was playing on 1060. I would love to see those numbers, but until then I'm staying with my 3-4 million $ 3 day weekend. I want this film to have even more success, but I always think about the factor that it's out on DVD/BluRey as well.
  6. 6.5-7 million $ weekend in US is out of reach. Anywhere between 3 and 4 million 3 day, and 3.5-4.8 4 day is maximum, and it's still great. I would say 185-190 million $ ww by monday would be realistic.
  7. I would love for Americans to keep on watching it in theaters, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a short lived Oscar effect. Hoping for top 10 next weekend with 2-3 million and after that 30-40% weekend drops, because the film is already out everywhere. But when it’s all said and done in the States, 44-45 million $ should be realistic. So, with Japan still going strong and hopefully UK, now that I put the numbers together, 200 million globally shouldn’t be that hard to achieve.
  8. I would like to think that 50 million in US is locked, but remember, film is already out on DVD/BluRey and all digital platforms. I can see it grossing 2-3 million next weekend, depending on expansion and then dropping slowly. My predicted US total is around 44 million $. WW... Hmmm... Japan seems to be helping a lot, and UK - I have no idea how will it play there. It shouldn’t gross under 185-190 million $ internationally.
  9. FEBRUARY 14-17: 1. "Sonic the Hedgehog" - 47.2 / 56.9 2. "Birds Of Prey" - 17.1 / 62.1 3. "The Photograph" - 14.8 / 17.7 3. "Fantasy Island" - 10.4 / 12.2 5. "Bad Boys 3" - 9.6 / 181.4 6. "1917" - 7.4 / 145.2 7. "Jumanji 2" - 4.9 / 306.1 8. "Dolittle" - 4.0 / 70.1 9. "Parasite" - 3.6 / 41.9 10. "The Gentlemen" - 3.0 / 32.1 11. "Downhill" - 2.4 / 2.9 12. "Little Women" - 1.9 / 106.0
  10. I'm never responding to similar posts again, I think this is like 3rd film I jinxed by being "sure" 😛
  11. Total definitely over "Joker's" opening. I don't think it will blow us away but 120-140 million total is realistic.
  12. My final projections. I hate when I'm off, like with "The Parasite". FEBRUARY 7-9: 1. "Birds Of Prey" - 46.6 2. "Bad Boys For Life" - 9.4 / 164.1 3. "1917" - 6.8 / 129.9 4. "Dolittle" - 4.7 / 61.6 5. "Jumanji 2" - 4.2 / 297.0 6. "The Gentlemen" - 3.4 / 25.9 7. "Gretel & Hensel" - 2.8 / 11.0 8. "Little Women" - 2.2 / 102.2 9. "Knives Out" - 1.9 / 158.4 10. "Star Wars 9" - 1.8 / 510.1 11. "Parasite" - 1.7 / 35.6 12. "Jojo Rabbit" - 1.2 / 29.9
  13. Thank you for respecting Universal/Blumhouse, but also giving us some insight. My question would just be - did Jamie Lee deliver a great role once again or is her timing less in this one?
  14. FEBRUARY 7-9: 1. "Birds Of Prey" - 58.8 2. "Bad Boys For Life" - 10.1 / 163.4 3. "1917" - 7.7 / 130.2 4. "Dolittle" - 4.9 / 63.2 5. "Jumanji 2" - 4.2 / 297.5 6. "The Gentlemen" - 3.4 / 26.0 7. "Gretel & Hensel" - 2.6 / 10.4 8. "Little Women" - 2.2 / 102.1 9. "Knives Out" - 2.1 / 158.9 10. "Parasite" - 1.9 / 36.3 11. "Star Wars 9" - 1.8 / 510.0 12. "Just Mercy" - 1.4 / 33.4
