That movie (3hr + wasn't anywhere as good as critics said) also nearly made $600M because the summer provides for some awesome weekday legs, while also having the benefit of a much better economic environment than post-September.
I've found that the best and most optimal way to experience a theatre viewing is to have a dopamine fast and a cardio session beforehand. Really helps the clear/empty the mind and enhance the experience.
There's always backlash to overbearing and overreaching circlejerks. Unfortunately, she caught the brunt of that. So much so that people are making 3 hr video essays of what she said 5-6 years ago.
I remember the lady from Vikings, Katheryn Winnick, actually being a runner up for Captain Marvel. I think she might have worked better, but she's like 45 and doesn't have an Oscar.

Because they were driven to complete a long spectacular arc that mattered to the creatives? Now that they have no direction and lack the intuitive to create GREAT standalone movies, they are stuck shooting fish in a barrel. It doesn't help that none of these indie directors have the know-how to effectively manipulate CGI and special effects to their advantage and the artistic vision as a whole.
Things the first Captain Marvel could of borrowed from the Original Top Gun
1. Flying
- How is the main character an air force pilot, but have none of the characteristics and little aerial combat fight scenes?
2. BiSexual Eroticism and Sexual Tension
- Handsome Guy and a Gym Freak Gal. Need I say more?
3. Hot Shot Main Character
- Why make such a big deal about being bullied for being a girl? Criticism and insults should bounce off of you like you're made of STEEL.
4. The Slow Jam Sound Track
Seriously, What is this Kree/Skrull/Jude Law nonsense?
