In all honesty, If your main character is a "Captain", the movie must based on a serious premise.

When she transitioned to being a pop star, I remember there being the discourse in country music that she sold out to the inner machinery of the Pop industrial complex.

Because they were driven to complete a long spectacular arc that mattered to the creatives? Now that they have no direction and lack the intuitive to create GREAT standalone movies, they are stuck shooting fish in a barrel. It doesn't help that none of these indie directors have the know-how to effectively manipulate CGI and special effects to their advantage and the artistic vision as a whole.

Things the first Captain Marvel could of borrowed from the Original Top Gun 1. Flying - How is the main character an air force pilot, but have none of the characteristics and little aerial combat fight scenes? 2. BiSexual Eroticism and Sexual Tension - Handsome Guy and a Gym Freak Gal. Need I say more? 3. Hot Shot Main Character - Why make such a big deal about being bullied for being a girl? Criticism and insults should bounce off of you like you're made of STEEL. 4. The Slow Jam Sound Track Seriously, What is this Kree/Skrull/Jude Law nonsense?
