According to sources, the show was another casualty of Hollywood’s ongoing strikes. With Hollywood’s writers and actors still on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), there was no hope of production beginning on Season 2 any time soon. That would likely mean the second season would not debut before 2025, while Season 1 aired in August 2022.
this basically means broadcast shows are not in danger only streaming shows.
Also this also likely indicates that a lot of shows that are premiering as brand new shows may be straight up cancelled or delayed till 2024.
The veteran dramas will not be effected by this.

TLDR: the studios are wanting this to end in September, which seems...a little too optimistic to me. My guess is early Octoberish.
they want it done with because they want to be able to save the January 2024 TVseason. The rest of 2023 is already screwed.

thats some of the most blatant AMPTP propaganda I’ve seen throughout this.
It's Variety.
Can we PLEASE stop posting AMPTP trash in this thread? I promise you, you can find unbiased people that are not affiliated with the AMPTP and their coverage.

Why does public support matter?
Because the trades are putting out THESE headlines
Yet by posting these articles here you're doing the job they want you to do, you're giving the trades money by doing this which is feeding the greedy ceo's.

You're gonna start seeing more and more articles like this every day. The AMPTP waited 100 days to negotiate on any of the WGA's proposed terms, because now that overall deals have been force majeured, the studios have saved a bit of development money and and fall TV season is upon us, they want the strike to be over ASAP, by whatever means necessary. So it doesn't matter if what the AMPTP is offering is vague enough that any studio could drive a truck through it-- they are now going to explicitly paint the writers' concerns with their dealpoints as perpetuating the hardship of others. It's disgusting and I hope people don't fall for it. The AMPTP can truly end this whenever they want to if they offer reasonable terms.
Well the Fall TV line up is doomed, what they're trying to do is save their January line up.

it's clear Giennefer's opinion is not shared much, I'd say she's suggesting a little too much. Both sides are gonna have to lose something it just is what it is. That's how negotiations work.
Also Netflix not being able to lose Stranger Things makes sense. The kids in the cast clearly were signed to YA contracts so they need to wrap the show up before they come of age and the YA contracts are voided and they'll all need new contracts which will be very expensive for all six kids.

I also have ZERO interest in commercials ever and IDK anyone that likes commercials except for when watching the Super Bowl.

you know this makes sense, now all the award shows can be just forced together week after week.

They pay big amounts of money for VFX. It's not enough for the amount of work required, but they pay.
paying for the vfx does not equal paying a fair wage for the vfx artists that are being ridiculously overworked.
QuoteWhat are the chances of the SAG strike going on until 2024? That would force the government to get involved, right?
state government would likely get involved sooner then that.

Lol, that coming right off of him admitting how poor their box office slate has been this year. He obviously saw the receipts and realized the company is in no position right now for him to be making comments that will hurt their public image even more, like he was.
I mean the budgets he's allowed for his blockbusters this movie was ridiculous. Who the hell thinks a 300 milion dollar budget in Indy Jones is going to make a profit? That's insane. On top of Quantumania flopping.
Haunted Mansion had a ridiculous budget as well.
The only hit for Disney so far is GOTG Vol 3.

And now with these upcoming 2 it's 4 and all of them have or will bomb.
QuoteThe whole situation is awful because some movies do need the most promo it can get, but for blockbusters?
calling this film a blockbuster is a hell of a stretch I'm sorry.
