Strong Saturday in Salt Lake for The Bat. Sales at Sugarhouse Cinemark for the first 11 screenings increased 38% over the Friday totals. The rest of the night will be flat to slightly down as there is one less late show, but still a great Saturday bump.

Top 5 CBM for me. As much as I love the genre, most I forget about after a few days. I doubt that will happen with this one. There's something in its melancholy that's very haunting and it sticks with you.
Beautifully shot and scored, great cast (Zoe Kravitz and John Turturro were two standouts for me) and a story that pays homage to the Batman mythology we all know and love, but also isn't afraid to take chances. It's a world I can't wait to revisit.
I saw it in standard format last night but I think this absolutely deserves the IMAX treatment. Even in standard I was blown away by how big it felt.

Those PostTrak scores from last night (4.5 stars, 88% positive, 73% definite recommend) absolutely point to the likelihood of significant numbers of repeat viewers. Not saying it can do 3X, but WOM* is going to carry this a long way through a basically empty month. I think $330-350 is on the table and that's a fantastic start for this new, darker Batverse.
* had a friend call me this morning who is NOT a CBM nerd at all, but knows that I am, and she said, "Have you heard? This new Batman is supposed to be amazing!" (Her girlfriend's BF had seen it on Tuesday night and couldn't stop raving about it.)

Late night walkups bumped Salt Lake Sugarhouse to a final of 600/888 (67.6%). Friday and Saturday look good as well.
Friday: 479 (+95) and one private watch party (+48).
Saturday: 394 (+115)

Preview Night Salt Lake update as of 3:00 PM, Sugarhouse Cinemark.
421/888 tix sold. 47.4%
I think the demand was there for more sales, but there are very few decent seats left in prime time; everything is either before or after. (The 3:00 PM show was a little less than 50%, and the 3:30 show is only 30% sold. 5:00-10:00 PM is packed however.)
The Eternals comp finished at $20.3, so I'll take that with the fan screenings and say a preview night of $23-24.
Will report back later tonight with the final totals.

The best the comic book genre has offered me since Raimi's Spider-Man 2.
That one to me has always been the gold standard for CBMs. Love to hear the comparison.

Did a more fleshed out post with comparisons in the France thread, but The Bat is off to a great start critically and with audiences there. 3.9 critics score (7 five star reviews) and 4.3 audience score, according to AlloCine.

Another strong day in Salt Lake City with sales jumping 37% over the Monday figure. Of note were the Friday and Saturday counts... half of the increase took place after I went to bed. WOM from the fan screenings?
Here are the totals for the Cinemark Sugarhouse as of 7:00 AM MST.
Thursday: 316 (+55)
Friday: 324 (+50)
Saturday: 213 (+50)
The current multiplier for Eternals' final is 1.6.

Was blown away by The Lego Movie and liked Lego Batman a bunch. Never saw Lego 2 but will check it out now after hearing all these raves.

As of 3:20 PM MST, the theater I track in Salt Lake has sold as many tickets for preview night, 36, as it did all day yesterday. New high for the cycle incoming and by a very large margin. 🔥🦇

HUGE Monday review bump in Salt Lake City for The Bat as my theater saw its biggest day of the whole run. I'm expecting more showtimes to be added later this morning. Here are the Thursday-Saturday totals:
Thursday: 261 (+36)
Friday: 274 (+58)
Saturday: 163 (+19)
Total tix sold today: 113
My comps are very limited, but the Thursday number is 1.3x Eternals final and doesn't include any fan screenings as this is a non-PLF.
Let's see if the momentum continues today.

A shame that we apparently won't have a Black Adam trailer attached to this. I was really expecting it.
I was too, but honestly most people still haven't seen that great Heroes teaser. Hopefully it will be attached to every print of The Bat and they can promote three pics with one, and then put the full Black Adam trailer with Fantastic Beasts.

Giacchino put up a triple-double with this soundtrack. Great stuff.
When I first saw this I was thinking baseball and I thought, "Well, yeah, that's certainly good, but...🤔"

By the way, it’s now been exactly five years since Matt Reeves was officially announced as the director.
How's that for perfect timing? Same day as the world premiere. Gotta love it.

Including Tuesday and Wednesday shows.Thanks. That's what I thought but I just wanted to make sure.
Sales at my theater are dwarfing anything not called NWH, and most of the prime evening shows Thursday are going to be gone by early next week. If we get great reviews I think $22-25 is very likely.

Pretty much my feelings right now. In my club, I had the OW at $137M off $22M previews. When you guys are talking about the preview number for this is that just Thursday or does that include the fan screenings as well?

Doesn´t looks very promising on paper but it´s from the same people who made Paddington so i think this have a good chance of being great, especially with such a good cast
Same. Paddington 2 was an absolute gem so I'm all in for this.

Here's hoping. Reviews I understand, but I'm not trying to wait another week for reactions. This is my best guess for the week, too - right during or after the London premiere.
Yeah, I think the reviews will stay where they are on the 28th, but it would make no sense to hold back the social media embargo since the internet is going to be filled with spoilers come Wednesday afternoon anyway.
-
I still think they will move it up to Wednesday, probably right after the premiere in London starts (10:30 AM PST.) Either way, we'll be hearing a bunch of reactions this week.

100%. We had a massive snowstorm in Salt Lake last night, almost a foot, and the first showing in the biggest auditorium at my theater is already ahead of yesterday's final with still 40 minutes go.
