Damn. Can we please get Feige to DC? (No, this is not a Fanboy War thing. Just a sorta-joke because I truly want the DC heroes to converge in a well planned, well crafted, well received connected universe. I want to see the DC heroes get the cinematic treatment they deserve [and yes, I know that Wonder Woman and Aquaman were awesome....but I still wish that those characters had been able to interact in a GOOD Justice League film])...

And I want both CM2 and WW184 to get decent reviews too and gigantic box office so nobody calls their first films "flukes" and just so both characters get at least three films each with the current creative teams (we both know that they both will eventually be rebooted; there is just too much money to be made). And also because I want to see Brie and Gal fighting Deathbird and Silver Swan in a future CM and WW film respectively, dammit. -

I am one of the people who did not even think it could reach 400, but I admit that it was partly to my silly wish of CM not outgrossing Wonder Woman domestically (since worldwide CM had already beaten Diana, I wanted my dear amazon to keep the domestic crown at least). But it is just stupid. At the end of the day, they are both triumphant movies and both have certainly dispelled all those idiotic narratives of "audiences don't care about female superheroes" that Hollywood loved to perpetuate. -

I actually would like if CM reached 450m. Seems like a nice round number, but it is still awesome, that at this point the origin films from two superheroines have outgrossed all the origin films from all male superheroes except Black Panther. -

Despite my reservations and problems about some elements of its content, the MCU has certainly built an incredibly successful, incredibly well-liked business empire and laid a blueprint for how to create cinematic narratives that audiences trust, love, and support. As an old-school DC fan, I am not gonna lie: it still stings that my favorite comic book characters have not gotten (yet) a well constructed interconnected narrative, but I am hopeful that the future brings something akin to what Marvel has done so well. -

I totally forgot that BP actually dropped incredibly well when IW opened. So what is the expected final domestic tally for CM? 415m? 420? Does it have enough fuel in the tank for 450? I mean, at this point, despite my initial misgivings, I am not going to underestimate CM anymore. For all we know, the next few weeks of EG domination could all fuel super-minimal drops or even actual increases for CM... -

Is Endgame really going to kill the two other superhero films in theatres this weekend? Maybe the spillover biz will entice people who can't get into EG to choose CM or SH! as alternatives to satiate their CBM cravings. -
And nobody said that a love interest is necessary. However, it will happen. In fact, I bet you (again) that at least the first film of every eventual series/trilogies/whatnot of Wonder Woman and Superman they make ad infinitum will include Steve and Lois. You will see. It is not necessary, but there will always be a place for our favorite metahumans to fall in love with a mere mortal. And I am sure that, just as superheroes themselves are a great wish fulfillment fantasy, Steve Trevor and Lois Lane are themselves a different type of wish fulfillment fantasy.

See, it doesn't matter what we think: in the end, Lois Lane has been in every single Superman movie that started every new generation's series of Superman films, and so will Steve Trevor be in every Wonder Woman film that starts every new iteration of cinematic WW stories; you can bet your bottom dollar it will happen. No, he is not "essential" to her character, just like Lois is not essential to Superman, but as long as movie studios bank on superheroes being humanized by their love stories and their interactions with a human 'avatar', there will be room in our screens for Diana's and Clark's classic love interests: and their names are Lois Lane and Steve Trevor, whether we like them or not.

Imagine living in a world in which little girls and little boys (or girls) of color can also look up at a movie poster in which they see themselves and engage in wish fulfillment as powerful female superheroes/superheroes of color. Imagine living in a world in which slowly but surely, superhero blockbusters about all kinds of people are becoming a reality. Not everyone may see it now, but the box office and critical triumph of Wonder Woman, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel are soooo important and so worthy of examining. These three films are not just three more CBM hits, but a genuine instance of films that have changed the game. Hopefully, Birds of Prey, Chang-Shi, The Eternals [and if I have my wish, Vixen and A-Force] will continue cementing the financial and artistic feasibility of superhero blockbusters starring people who are not male, hetero, or white. And hopefully, Wonder Woman 1984 will build on Wonder Woman's box office and quality to become one of 2020's best loved box office behemoths.

As a huge fan of canonical Wonder Woman history, I am glad that Steve Trevor will always be a part of Wonder Woman. And thankfully, Chris Pine was an audience favorite in Wonder Woman, and the relationship between DIana and Steve was undoubtedly the heart of the film. I bet that every eventual Wonder Woman reboot we ever get will include Steve Trevor, and that is fine with me.
