I'll apologize in advance but let me get this off my chest, Hughes is a DC fanboy. He is full of crap. There is no way in hell the marketing budget was 40 million. According to him the production cost was 80 million and the marketing cost was 40 million. So 120 in total. The film has to make 240 to break even per Hughes. This is a lie. The budget was anywhere from 80 to 100 million as per multiple sources. The film had reshoots. And the marketing could not have been less than 50 million. They had to promote the film worldwide. So really we're looking at 275 to 300 million just to break even. See the tv commercial budget below. 21 million just for tv. They still had to cut trailers, print posters, billboards, etc. Shazam will make a profit but it won't be a runaway success and that fills my heart with joy.

If a movie flops "its China, doesnt matter, studios only get 25%"
If a movie is a hit "chinese people have bad taste"
Seriously, why do you people keep shitting over China?

Wondie had a $37m opening n $90m total... I hope Shazam can hit these numbers at worst

$280m OS
$140m DOM
People should keep in their minds that Shazam is DC's Ant-man. Anything above $400m is a win.

I had a chance to watch it and my only complaint is the CGI, but maybe Im nitpicking. Kids are great and Mark Strong is a compelling villain.
A solid movie overall. Too bad its release date sucks but I hope Shazam can make some $$$$ back
-
Lmaooo thats why Shazam has no dc intro.
I wanted custom logos within the movie rather than separate ones before the film.

https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/ezra-miller-reportedly-flash-wb-script-recast/
"Well, according to a source close to We Got This Covered, this has come to pass and Miller may now be done as the Flash. It should be said that our source notes they’ve heard some conflicting information on the topic, but we’re told that the general consensus amongst those close to the project is that the Justice League star won’t be playing the lead in The Flash, after all, and Warner Bros. will now recast the role.
As laid out in previous write-ups of the situation, the reason for this is that WB decided not to go with Miller’s storyline as it’s simply not the route they want to take. We’ve been told that they liked his script, but not enough to change course. This makes sense, too, considering WB has found success with lighter fare like Aquaman and Shazam! of late and Miller’s script was said to be a grand, dark multiversal epic in the vein of Flashpoint."
