  1. First Slam Dunk also on sale June 28. Have a good weekend 🙂
  2. Full-week, full-day-showtime re-releases coming to at least a few national chains: Pirates: Black Pearl - July 7 Toy Story - July 21 Frozen - Aug 4 Beauty and the Beast (OG) - Aug 18 Incredibles - Sep 1 Coco - Sep 15 Lion King (OG) - Sep 29 Moana - Oct 13 These are being done to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary.
  3. Haunted Mansion on sale June 28 Psycho-Pass Providence on sale June 23
  4. I don't feel like starting long-winded arguments on this thread, so I'll say that I strongly disagree with some of the narratives presented here and leave it at this post. I've seen more evidence that things will work out OK for theaters eventually than that which points to the contrary. Overall revenue is still ticking upwards year-over-year post-reopening, the arthouse/specialty scene is showing signs of life (Past Lives is expanding nicely, Asteroid City's PTA this weekend was terrific), talent working in the industry continue to back movie theaters, the theatrical revenue stream still generates the most direct revenue for a single title out of all the windows (Yes, including PVOD/TVOD/EST, based on the numbers I've come across), and the theatrical model still gives movies more attention when they hit those later windows. I'm a firm believer that the quality and marketability are what's going downhill, along with costs that have ballooned far too high, and those are issues on the studio end, not theaters or consumers abandoning the model.
  5. This is not one of her more accurate scoops. The Barbie sale date has been set for June 21 for a little while now, I don't think whatever she's talking about is what's happening.
  6. Puss 2 opened low because it was a mid-week opener over Xmas weekend, and the way the holiday was positioned in 2022 wasn't ideal. Additionally, there was a massive snowstorm that covered a large part of the U.S. on opening weekend, and that might've halted some potential business. Ruby Gillman is a summer opener, so even if it received terrific word-of-mouth, it wouldn't manage the same legs.
  7. Tickets were made available publicly a few days ago, but it seems that was done by accident.
  8. …Am I the only one who feels Sonic 3 may actually open higher than Thunderbolts? I mean, I suppose it’s a pre-holiday family opening, so probably not. But if it was a normal date… I dunno, I feel like 2 built up a lot of excitement for 3, whereas Thunderbolts seems like one of the less exciting MCU projects (Unless I’m missing something about it that really amps it up?). Again, without the pre-holiday effect, I think they would be targeting similar openings.
  9. Don't Disney live-action family remakes tend to leg out better than comic book-based superhero movies? I would think a $90m opening for TLM would be a better sign for totals than $80m for Flash.
  10. The limited promotion seems intentional. Think Uni knew this was looking like a miss and chose to spend as little as they could. Looks like they cancelled the 3D release of this too, not seeing any showtimes in that format anywhere despite initially promoting RealD 3D availability.
  11. Apologies if this has already been posted here, I didn't see it: A new version of the movie is being sent to theaters this weekend. Sony got complaints about some hard-to-hear dialogue regarding the sound mix, so an edit of the movie with the revised mix will be available starting on Friday.
  12. Walmart screenings for M:I7 are now on sale, they are not Walmart+ exclusive.
  13. Don’t know if this is known yet or not: There will be Walmart-hosted early screenings on July 9, possibly Walmart+ exclusive. Public early access shows on July 10, nicknamed “Mission Monday”
