  1. I'm glad Sonic released just in time to beat Pikachu domestic so I could win my bet. If it released in March it would have been screwed over.
  2. Even if some theaters were to remain open very few people would go. Sad times for box office watchers
  3. Yeah it could be Disney's Jumanji. Seems like a solid crowd-pleaser that might benefit from being one of the first movies once people are more comfortable going out in public again.
  4. Which will happen first: New Mutant releasing in theaters or The Rock becoming president?
  5. WB can still hedge its bets for now. No reason to decide just yet, probably better to wait and see.
  6. That My Spy trailer has been playing in front of a bunch of family movies since like early-ish last year. Just sell it to Netflix and be done with it.
  7. Stark divide between an A- Cinemascore and the 97% verified audience score on RT
  8. I was mainly thinking about Sony Animation. The Illumination aside was meant to be a damning by faint praise.
  9. Pixar should start being more efficient with their resources. Sony Animation can do great things with under $100M production budget. Illumination, well, they do enough to still make a shit ton of money I guess XD
  10. The second video game movie boom has begun. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/borderlands-movie-works-eli-roth-lionsgate-1280134
  11. Pretty fun movie. A few jokes in the movie made me chuckle lightly, but the first post-credits scene got me good. Rock-connaissance!
  12. Oh yeah this is a movie that exists. Why did the dog have to be CGI? Did they want to do things that it was not feasible for a trained dog to do?
  13. I can see it. BoP didn't cost that much to make, and it was well received by critics and the people who watched it.
  14. BOP is an underperformer rather than a flop like we thought after the OW. Kinda like Shazam but a bit worse.
  15. The difference between TMNT 2014 and Sonic is that people actually like Sonic. TMNT 2014 did well financially but its sequel crashed and burned. The Sonic sequel (it will be greenlit any day now) might still decline but will fare much better than the TMNT sequel did.
  16. I completely forgot that Spies in Disguise was a thing. Oof, didn't even double its production budget. https://www.the-numbers.com/movie/Spies-in-Disguise-(2019)
  17. The family audience was starving for a new family movie after Frozen 2 (a good one: sorry, Dolittle), and Paramount delivered a decent crowd-pleaser in Sonic.
  18. This Sonic fan site Twitter account is trying to take credit for @cJS's numbers it seems.
  19. Pikachu was a family movie with the legs of a CBM. Sonic might perform more like the family movie it is supposed to perform like.
