  1. again: NO ONE had an emotional connection to Wonder Woman outside of the US before the 2017 film. Im German, love Bats and Sups since I was 7 and I first saw year as a teen on some JL 2003 episodes and truly knew her by 2010? The first film is so good, so beloved and now on Netflix worldwide. I stay with my statement: 600 million domestic and 1,3 billion worldwide. The trailer is great as a tease which is what it was supposed to be. the music pulls you in, you see many interesting places and some cool twists(for the GA): Steve is back, her armor, that we are back on the island. I cant wait.
  2. Agreed. Wonder Woman 1984 will smash next summer. IMO it could be the movie of 2020. No (I assume) big Marvel film, no Star Wars and DC is on a fantastic run overseas with Aquaman and Joker. Add to that the fact that Wonder Woman outside of the US was a name but not much more before the 2017 movie which already had a really solid gross OS and I can see a big jump. Some may talk about luke warm reactions and Imdb ratings, which is fair, but I see it "free" to watch on German Netflix, think about how few options girls&women still have among blockbusters and I get that feeling. I call it now for fun: 1,3 billion worldwide, 600 million US.
  3. Great to hear. Always happy to see the DC fandom be so diverse and strong. Mom work at its best right here!
  4. I get the feeling that "everyone" who has seen it at least liked it. Shazam could be a bit like Batman Begin. Doesn´t set the world on fire during its theaterical run but combined with home video its building up a big package of buzz and good will. Shazam stands where it did stand 1 week ago. WB will make a nice profit and has a new DC franchise for the kids market to built on big time. The movie was the next step for DC on film, just not a leap. But for the first Shazam film in close to 70 years thats a good job.
  5. The film is getting there. Nice to see. Will support it again next week here in Germany.
  6. Shazam is doing well in the US and outside of it. Will be interesting how WB treats it. A great start to build on or a franchise that doesn´t quite bring in the box office money.
  7. Solid numbers. The film is getting there. Is the next step for DC on film. Not the big one I hoped for but a solid step stone.
  8. If I may: because those numbers are good. I really dont get this narrative of "oh no, Shazam". And its all about WoM. Thats great. My audience here in Germany had a blast. Im back on monday. We will have a good picture then.
  9. Saw it today here in Germany. Such a wonderful, charming film about family, love and superheroes in the best way. Overseas is doing good overall, US numbers are looking really solid. Shazam will find its way to 500+. Calling it.
  10. That is pretty amazing. Speaks for the release date with winding down big movies(CM), movies you can take the risk on(a remake of a film being popular 40? years ago) and not much ahead till Endgame.
  11. As a DC&movie fan Shazam is really interesting when it comes to hype/box offic etc. I think the release date is pretty great. Especially outside the US movies are done after 3,4 weeks so having 3 free(ish) weeks till Endgame is all it needs overseas. Add to that Dumbo underperforming and Captain Marvel&Us winding down(again; especially overseas where we will see around 15 million in 60 markets combined for each this coming weekend) and the release shouldnt be a problem. I get many DC fans(who had to endure some drama&trolling these last few years) who are annoyed by "where was the marketing?" etc&there are some people who just want to stir conflict&get attention with that but I think there is an argument for another big action shot in the 2nd trailer. Here in Germany the online media&community has seen nothing than positive reviews. A traditional (local) newspaper here gave it a 2 out of 5 this week. Maybe Shazam´s reception will come down (in parts) to your age. We will see. Overall Im hyped for the film(will see it tomorrow) and I think we are in for 500+ million worldwide if China alone brings in 100 million. Everything over 500 million is a worldwide hit&a giant success on that budget.
  12. Thank you. Yes, I am really interested in that one. The cast is stellar and its HBO. I trust them to respect all of the material. Would love it to be (implied is enough) in the same world as the film.
  13. As a DC fan Im really interested in the film´s performance. I agree that the marketing lacked one OMG moment but beside that its been really on point. The first trailer has a view count around Aquaman´s this close to release and the buzz is just super strong. Im a fan of the release window myself. As a German I always wonder about worldwide totals and Shazam has one big global launch week in all (big) markets besides Japan(2 weeks later). the web worldwide will talk about Shazam and that could push the performance from market to market.
