  1. Opposite reaction for me, my inner child is weeping at what they've done to one of my favourite movies of all time. Went into this movie with a blank slate, came out of it absolutely hating it. Felt like I was watching a nature documentary with singing and talking animals.
  2. Honestly, I'm a big Pokemon fan(bought a GB Pocket when I was 10 years old in 1999 just for Pokemon, will be buying Sword/Shield day one), but the entire premise of this movie was unappealing to me from the start. What people like the most about Pokemon(outside of the Pokemon themselves) is the trainers and the battles, they need to go back to the Pokemon basics if they want to capture the massive fanbase that buys the games.
  3. That's a bit lower than Shazam if I remember correctly.
  4. This all reminds me of this: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/jun/29/cinema-apologises-for-playing-sausage-party-trailer-before-finding-dory A theater in California played a trailer for Sausage Party, curse words and all, during a Finding Dory screening. What makes it hilarious is that Sausage Party can easily be mistaken for a kids movie, so the parents and kids never would've seen it coming.
  5. The casual audience compares movies to other movies, it's irrelevant if it's the highest rated videogame movie or not, most of the target audience doesn't even look at that. Right now both the RT and the Metacritic ratings for this movie are average to mediocre. The WoM has been mixed as well from the people who I've spoken to that have watched the movie, there's a lot of people who love the movie, but an equal amount hate it and thought it was a waste of time.
  6. Hmmm I wouldn't be surprised if that's probably it. For some reason Black Panther never clicked with me like it has for others, I thought maybe my hype and expectations were too high when it was first released, but I was disappointed that I felt the same way on the rewatch as I did when I first watched it in theatres.
  7. I just rewatched Black Panther on Sunday and I can't at all figure out why it was rated so high by critics 🤔 It's a decent flick, but it's very formulaic and it has terrible CG(mainly in the final battle). Not a huge of fan of MBJ's portrayal of Killmonger either.
  8. It's the eve of the big day, I pulled some post RT score ticket sales numbers for Endgame at the Cineplex VIP in Ottawa: Cineplex Cinemas Lansdowne and VIP Thursday April 25, 2019 VIP 3D 6:40pm - 75/78 (96% sold) - Only handicap seats left 8:00pm - 77/82 (94% sold) 10:50pm - 76/78 (97.4% sold) - Only handicap seats left 12:15pm - 66/82 (80.5% sold) VIP 6:00pm - 63/66 (95.5% sold) - Only handicap seats left 7:20pm - 106/111 (95.5% sold) - Only handicap seats left 10:10pm - 61/66 (92% sold) 11:30pm - 106/111 (95.5% sold) - Only handicap seats left UltraAVX 3D Atmos 7:00pm - 246/253 (97% sold) - Only handicap seats left 11:00pm - 233/253 (92% sold) Regular 3D 6:30pm - 207/276 (75% sold) 10:30pm - 116/276 (42% sold) Regular 6:00pm - 209/245 (85.3% sold) 10:00pm - 122/245 (50% sold) 11:15pm - 51/150 (34% sold) Compared to yesterday, one more VIP showing is sold out(minus handicap/handler seats), and there are now only two showings that are under 50% sold(both non-premium late night showings), and I suspect that they will quickly fill up as well as the Endgame hype reaches its fever pitch.
  9. Hey all, longtime lurker, first time poster, figured I'll join in on the fun here before Thanos destroys this weekend 😉 Here's some numbers I've pulled from the newest Cineplex here in Ottawa for Endgame(bolded are effectively sell outs): Cineplex Cinemas Lansdowne and VIP Thursday April 25, 2019 VIP 3D 6:40pm - 75/78 (96% sold) - Only handicap seats left 8:00pm - 76/82 (92.7% sold) 10:50pm - 73/78 (93.6% sold) 12:15pm - 59/82 (72% sold) VIP 6:00pm - 63/66 (95.5% sold) - Only handicap seats left 7:20pm - 106/111 (95.5% sold) - Only handicap seats left 10:10pm - 61/66 (92% sold) 11:30pm - 106/111 (95.5% sold) - Only handicap seats left UltraAVX 3D Atmos 7:00pm - 245/253 (96.8% sold) - Only handicap seats left 11:00pm - 233/253 (92% sold) Regular 3D 6:30pm - 193/276 (69.9% sold) 10:30pm - 98/276 (35.5% sold) Regular 6:00pm - 186/245 (75.9% sold) 10:00pm - 85/245 (34.7% sold) 11:15pm - 35/150 (23% sold) Premium formats are destroying the non premium formats at this particular theatre. Surprised that even some of the late night showings are almost sold out for the premium formats.
