Today pretty much exploded, and it seems good, but...I dunno, I feel like it appearing in barely over 2K theaters probably inflates things here a bit, and I don't feel like there's that much buzz or demand. But hey, I've been wrong before.

Probably because of the large Black population in Philly? I just did a quick check in Denver, and the Hustlers comp isn’t even 500K. And Countdown is right behind it here

I removed showings that I suspect were glitched sellouts, which amounted to 358 sold/total seats and 3 showtimes lost. But still an overall increase. It is now about 88% of the Lion King's final total.

James Mangold’s Ford v. Ferrari which is winning over crowds and critics in early screenings since its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival is looking at a solid start in the $23M-$30M range in early tracking when the Disney-Fox pic opens on Nov. 15.

On the downside, Sony’s reboot of Charlie’s Angels directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska is off to a very slow start in forecasts, ideal now with young females, but right now at $16M, with the studio seeing lower between $12M-$13M for what is being reported as a $48M net production.

"in the opening hours" at least compares TFA and TLJ as like for like as they were released more or less at the same time.  Still hella weasily words though.

TFA was marred by crashes left and right, but by TLJ that was mostly fixed.

Still isn't giving us a 24 hour metric but I suspect it's right around TLJ level, plus or minus.  Which is fine by me.  Now we see where it goes from here

Yeah that’s pretty vague, which is really annoying. Wish they’d give more concrete data

To spare us from a super long post, I'll only be putting the totals of the two theaters I show.

I don't know how good this really is, but FWIW, it is ahead of TLK on the day before previews. Which was at 5111 tickets sold.

Can one of you guys do me a favor? On Monday when the tickets go on sale (presumably) at 5 PM, I'm going to be at class and won't be back until 3 hours after the tickets have been on sale. I was hoping one of you guys could set up the 'total seats available' for each show and the region as a whole on my seat map once the tickets go on sale just in case any shows sell out before I get back (thus rendering me unable to see the number of seats in that theater). Whoever wants to do it, I'll email my Google Doc of the seat map to you on Monday before I head to class.

I’ll help as much as I can. If someone else can help, I’ll start from the bottom of the doc in case they’re not done

Of course, I will try to be even handed and point out that this IS Collider Frosty and Ash.

At the same time we're talking about a TV series here so perhaps initial emotional response is all that we need.  Since it was disparate clips we still don't know how it hangs in regards to storytelling.  That's the last piece to the puzzle and none of the reactions that are gonna be coming out today will be able to tell us that.

Yeah I think the most important thing from this is that it does feels like Star Wars. I’m not sure if anyone was really worried about that judging from what we’ve seen already, but that’s a really important thing to achieve. People might get turned off if the live action TV series format doesn’t feel like real Star Wars.
