I think this is the only time on a big release I’ve seen the Top Critics score be much higher.

She would be perfect for Superman but it’s okay. We’ll get a snarky, formulaic JJ Abrams version that everyone is gonna LOVE.

This looks nothing like the MCU? It looks like genuine camp not ironic sarcastic goofiness.

If it is fresh, it'll help sway the general audience to go see it.

Thats a decent start. Shows that there are critics who are absolutely loving it as opposed to lukewarm across the board.

I love Deadpool as much as the next guy but it’s not a very visually interesting film tbf and def looks closer to a CW show than BoP does.

I could see OW going higher ($60-$70) based on the reception of the second trailer.

I think it’ll be bigger than the first.

As long as the trailer sells the tonal change from the first then audiences should be fine with it. Test audiences went in blind and would’ve been in for a shock ha.

Raimi’s films in general are campy but there’s great writing and directing behind it so it works. Like Spiderman, I think a character like WW can work with some campiness, it all depends on execution.

That’s a very Japanese approach to the Kaiju genre. The monsters are characters themselves, something a lot of people missed or didn’t get. The movie doesn’t appeal to Western sensibilities at all, it’s very much a true Godzilla film. Hence why Japanese critics really liked it (and they usually are apathetic towards American adaptations) and Western critics are very split.

They’re paying for the sins of the 2014 film unfortunately.

I think people really underestimated just how badly 2014 burned audiences, the WOM on it was dreadful. KOTM so far has great WOM and should have decent legs ala Kong. It suffered from the last film but will help instill good will into the series for people which will help next years Godzilla vs Kong.
