I really don't get the excitement over the cast list, lol. It's not OUATIH or Dune or Knives Out or anything, this thing has guys like Pete Davidson and John Cena in it so it can't be that high caliber.
So isn't a movie headlined by chris evans.

I’m gonna side with Ayer here.
Nothing Ehrlich wrote there was new, interesting or clever. His post is spiteful
I write this as a person who really disliked that movie.
Ehrlich is just a certifed pretentious asshole. Makes it five times worse because he thinks being an asshole is a personality.
Like i didnt like suicide squad, but its been three years. Leave it alone.

Problem is some critics are not so much reviewing the film but using it as soap box for their own political agenda. Of course the film has some political and social commentary.and it's legit to discuss that......but to say it's promoting racism and will cause violence is pretty stupid.
Of course you have already said you have no interest in seeing this film, so why the hell does it matter so much to you?
Bullshit. Qutie a few reviews criticize the Joker on aritistic grounds. You might not agree with them, but to say almost all negative reviews are politically driven is just not the case.
And yeah , everything I have read, including almost all the favorable reviews say the film is trying to make some political and social points. problem comes with critics who are trying to read stuff into the film that just is not there.
Yet another "HOW DARE ANYBODY NOT LIKE WHAT I LIKE!" rant.
This whole hatred of anybody who does not blindly praise something is one of the most annoying habits fanboys seem to be fallint into.
Find me ten legitimate negative reviews.

I was impressed by the number of replies in the Avatar 2 thread and went to check the most replied threads. Since they're split in several forums, it's hard for me to check, but was the BVS thread the biggest of all time, with over 54,000 replies?
Damn that's a lot, that movie is truly iconic and a modern classic.
Imagine if the theatrical cut made sense. Would have broken all the records.
No movie will ever reach that hype. It had decades long hype.

People watch them once and forget about them. Most forgettable movies of all time. Excluding avengers one of course.

I think it was started by a Hollywood gossip site.

Then your point loses all gravity on account of it being too niche, since it only applies to cape comic book movies. The concept is not groundbreaking for movies in or comic books.
Give this man a manual. What are you blabbering about? Character studies are new to CBMs get outta here.

Source/what do you mean by that ? I am not sure how a director like that will get invited to a festival without them seeing the movie first, I am not sure how they would see the movie without having the distributor submit it first.
The festival received 1,500, 2,000 movies they pick some of them to get in competition, you have to pay a fee to get in there you do not get invited out of the blue no ?, https://www.labiennale.org/en/cinema/2019/regulations
Invited has in the sense: after asked if he can compete to Venice, filled a subscription form, sent the movie and paid a fee received he then received an invitation to participate?
In the Golden Lion acceptance speech, Phillips said a early cut was seen by an executive in WB Italy and she sent it to the director of the festival. Then the film was invited.

It's not however nothing new to cinema in general. From Taxi Driver to Falling Down and Sling Blade.
I know. But the discussion was regarding comicbook movies.

Lol You sound more like the one who's trolling.
(I will edit my post and correct the spelling of Zimmer's name.)
I'll just say, in my opinion, Joker takes on a character study about a mentally ill man to show the callousness of soicety. That is very new to CBMs. The fact that is dark and serious is an aspect of the movie, but it is not defined by it.
As for the blatant award campaigning, I mean it was invited to Venice. Phillips did not ask to be invited, they just were. Logan was never even up for discussion, as awesome it was.
Have a good day.

Undermine Joker's triumph? Lol. No point is, Joker is not some groundbreaking superhero movie. It's not offering anything new or different. Logan did dark and serious without this level of blatant awards season campaigning. But I understand why you feel the need to prop Joker.
Dismissing your silly argument is not tantamount to saying a movie is better or more important than another. But going by your logic, I can now laugh at all the fanboys who fawn over Hans Simmer and claim that he should have multiple Oscars.
I would respond, but "not offering anything new" and "Simmer" suggests to me that you are trolling me.

Is Ezra's Snyder version of this still the tone they are going for? Is Ezra still attached?
Ugh, I hope not on all accounts.
I think JL was more Wheaton than snyder (though I doubt either could adequately portray Barry). And yes Ezra has said he is excited and back for the film. His character tone will change though.

Joker is not a superhero movie. It's not even an action movie. Please. Lol It was intended to cater exactly to the film festival crowd. Making a superhero movie that also happens to appeal to film nerds is far more impressive.
What are you saying here? Are you really attempting to undermine Joker's triumph at Venice? Lmao. I will be suprised if another CBM enters Venice, let alone ever wins the golden lion again.
Enjoy the moment. CBMs will never get more legitimized. In a decade, people will look back at this era as the one that killed the value of cinema.

Lol at "no meaningful gold".. what a clown comment. Safe to say Nolan himself would dismiss such nonsense, considering he was impressed enough to hire one of those Oscar winners to work on his upcoming movie.
Again no meaningful gold. If awards for design are that important, then f me suicide squad is better than citizen kane.
12 hours ago, SpiderByte said:So Oscars don't matter but Dark Knight deserved to win more? Which is it?
Nice try at trying change what I said. Meaningful categories do. TDK deserved to win best picture.
11 hours ago, Nero said:Deserves got nothing to do with it...
Looks like I hit a nerve. If that were the case, then How green is my valley is better than citizen kane, green book is better than the roma, and slumdog millionaire is better than TDK. Deserves finds truth and worthiness amongst the Acamedy's BS.

Black Panther won three Oscars. More than even Dark Knight.
Which will make next year interesting when Joker likely loses everything it's up for except maybe Actor and maybe Makeup.
Again no meaningful gold. And dont bring up the dark Knight. We both know that Dark knight deserves more oscars than BP.

Damn my body is shaking from this response. My testicles are hard.
Honestly this response is the most vanilla comment ever. What are you 70? Do better grandpa. If you're gonna name yourself after a Nazi, bring that same heat.
Looks like you are. Need a tissue? *passes tissue*. It'll get better raul.
