  1. More on the fact that if ever a perfect time for a trailer now would be it,but…..not relevant anymore 🙂
  2. It would be interesting to say the least if we didn’t receive a trailer tomorrow….here’s hoping
  3. Remember when during Pixar’s heyday they would swipe metacritic scores of 90 and plus….those were the good days.
  4. I think the main problem I have with the film is the dialogue, that’s what makes it feel like a simple childrens film. I’d say it’s the first WDAS film to feel like it was made for very small children in a very long time and what’s surprising is that people will be quick to put the blame on Jennifer lee who was the writer, but I’ve seen her work in wreck it Ralph and the first frozen and the dialogue in pivotal scenes felt authentic and real.(Think of “the party is over” scene in frozen as an example.)So perhaps something changed after frozen’s big success with small children, I don’t know.
  5. This was actually better than I thought it would be.I found myself invested throughout, with all the emotional beats landing.Asha turned out to be a surprisingly likable character with some great character animation to go with her.(although not always did the character animation work with this new style on some of the other characters.)The background art turned out really well and some of the songs like “this wish” and “knowing what I know now” worked really well within the context of the plot. If I would have some criticism it would be that some of the dialogue was childish and a lot of the film is the characters going from point A to point B which started getting a little monotonous. So I definitely think it’s better than the reviews make it ought to be-although maybe it’s my inner Disney fan in me talking, but overall I’d recommend.I mean it does lack the sophistication of some other Disney films but if your in the right mindset it works, give it a try.
  6. (On the topic of Pocahontas.)Pocahontas meeting John smith is a brilliant scene showcasing great pacing and powerful character animation.I would bet that James Cameron was inspired by that scene with Netiri meeting jake in avatar.
  7. Not surprised by the bad reviews.Film (unlike literature) has potential to be a medium that transcends age gaps in it’s ability to appeal, and that was the real legacy of Walt.It was his ability to take simple stories like Snow White and meat it up to be a rich cinematic experience, yes some might say now Snow White looks like a simple childrens film by today’s standards, but for its time it was a revolutionary film that pushed the limits of film period.Ultimately becoming the highest grossing film of its time, with many famous filmmakers pointing it out as a major cinematic influence. So when I look at wish I see something that in theory was meant to pay homage to films like Snow White but it lacks the boldness and ambition that those films achieved. It’s like their paying homage to the stereotype of Disney rather then what Walt’s films really stood for(I mean look at the artistry in Bambi, and fantasia etc.).Not to say the film doesn’t seem to have some good elements it’s just it looks like it lacks the boldness that Walt strived for with his top tier films.
  8. This film has that creative spark one would generally associate with a pixar film, in that from the marketing as a casual movie goer you think your getting a fun little popcorn comedy film(which it still is.) but then the themes and heart creep up on you surprising you and actually making you think. Also don’t know if anyone made the comparison but It’s very much “the matrix” meets “enchanted” .
  9. Elemental:A beautiful, sincere, and heartfelt film who’s personal origins can be felt in each frame. It really was a surprise,no wonder the good legs.
  10. Ok let me just fuckin say it how it is:This film slaps every other live action-and animated film in its way. It’s a gutsy statement to the art and power of the medium of animation. It felt like walking into an art book.It really is everything everyone says it is. Although I will say if your not in the right mindset it can feel like a bit much in its pacing with its non stop action-as proven with me watching it with my mom.But other then that, this film will probably be remembered as the turning point for not just animation but mainstream cinema at large.BRAVO!!!
  11. Can we finally have a animated film nominated for best picture again, and possibly win as well?
  12. I gotta say after seeing this clip, say what you want about how the story will play out but the characterization and creativity of the animation that goes with it,is really on point.(not surprising considering that the director has a history of being a character animator.)
  13. I don’t wanna jinx it,but there’s a possibility that this could get a pg-13,being that they didn’t announce the rating yet.
  14. Although narratively speaking it’s not as tight,it’s in the visuals and overall atmosphere that sets this Batman apart plus it has perhaps the most believable take on the caped crusader.Easily my favorite live action Batman.
  15. …….Jennifer Connelly was the one redeeming factor to this 🤓😆
  16. I seem to be the only person in the world to have a very meh reaction to this….maybe it’s cause I didn’t grow up with the original, maybe I don’t care that much if “it was REALLY filmed with real aircraft!”.I don’t know but to me this was VERY basic.
