Love Ragnarok. Does it feel like 2 movies stitched together ,yeah. Skaar plotline , Hela Asgard plotline. Ragnarok succeeds heavily due to how good and just fun the scaar plotline is. It kind of reinvents Thor and even hulk was way more to do here. Hela plotline is just there and feels underdeveloped . It's not attrocious . In the end both plots meld for a fun epic third act with awesome soundtrack and visuals . Odin's death isn't well handled and Asgard destruction felt emotionless . Thor 1 same issue . Asgard and frost Giants ,Loki good . Everything on earth is meh. Dark world is generic from start to finish. TLT is Ragnarok on steroids and inherits it's major flaws in spades and is awful and annoying for most of the runtime. Taika and Vaughn are pretty in the same place now. They got in way over their heads after praise they recieved.

I2 was a good enough sequel . I3 can still work. But we probably getting more sequels than originals due to the current state of Disney . Sigh. Finding Hank. LMAO , That franchise had run its course by second one. but it made a tone of money so. TS5 . 4 was solid entry but rather an uneccessary one IMO. For the love God it's your holy grail . Let it rest. Wouldn't want this to fail but let it drop like " Dead men tell no tales style to sub 800m . Company would work away with profit but wouldn't think about touching another one. Wall E 2 . No Ratatouille 2 and Up 2 . Can happen and can see where they would go but would rather they don't touch them.

And fatigue arguments will roll right back in when cap 4 flops. Fatigue is pretty real at this point. The day of mediocre CBMS getting by is dead. Each movie will survive based on it's WOM. If reception is bad , underperform or flop . Deadpool 3, batman 2 ,Spidey 4, Avengers 5 and 6 ,strange 3 may never bomb but can see all underperform and fall off after OW. As for the rest . It's a hail Mary . They will die or live depending on reception audience anticipation. Death of CBMs is exaggerated but fatigue is already here. 2023 just about did that. 2024 is suspect will be quite harsh to Sony spider verse movies. Venom 3 could either do as expected (450-500m) or severely underperform .

December has avatar 3. Cap 4 Thunderbolts and FF can swap btn may /July. Blade. But personally think blade will move to Feb 2026 . Spidey 4 back to it's July slot in 2026. Announce the movie for Nov 2026. Think They will have 3 movies for 2025. FF or thunderbolts may move to late 2025 .

TLM was able to break even on 2.3x thanks to big domestic number. 297* 0.55 = 160mish revenue. Aqm2 125* 0.55 = roughly 70m in revenue. TLM theatrical revenue alone exceeds Aquaman domestic total by quite a healthy 40m+ Breakeven range used by trades is 2-2.5* . It doesnt mean any film that makes 2x it's pd bud has broken even. 2.5* is the safe bet. Those that breakeven closer to 2x always have the benefit of really strong domestic numbers. Don't know if Aquaman 2 will breakeven 70ish revenue Dom. About 100m os -china (250*0.4) 15m china (60*0.25) About 180ish theatrical revenue goes back to studio is my guess. About 20m+ below production budget. Think it will be close and if it loses money it's not more than 50m.

First of all budget is actually 205m according to variety. China gross is not really that heavy it's below like 15% . You can't compare it to the original which made like close to 300m there. Terrible marketing, Rotten and B CS . Did it drop 700m+ from the original yes WB was clever not to add much on the budget. A massive flop nah . It will lose money but not much something like 50m. It's going to make it 2x it's production bud. Marvels couldn't even make 1* it's budget . Flash Either did or not depending if the budget was 220 or 300m ,BB and Shazam barely did. It's a flop but some just really want to make this sound like a gigantic failure . This movie had everything going against it managing to get to 425-450m with 300m+ Os after such a terrible year is commendable in comparison.

Original made 400m domestic and pretty popular. Tepid WOM would definitely cut it's legs 135-150m ow 280-325m Dom 600m+ WW.

What if starwars show though similar to visions is a good idea and would get there creative juices flowing which is sorely lacking on live action side of things.

Most of Disney + shows have bigger numbers than a considerable number of high profile shows. Why should that suprise anyone . MCU/SW are brands . Yes they are nowhere as strong as they used to be but still have some pull. Watchmen and most of this high profile shows have more pop cultural footprint and staying power. You can numerous recommendations. Most of the Disney + shows are talked about when airing. But after that they are quickly forgotten due to how mediocre they are.

Echo was safe ,generic for like 4 episodes. Soundtrack was pretty good. Yeah nothing much happens and it's felt rushed and nothing much was developed. TV MA rating was barely needed here and action was just decent . Trailer was Miles better than actual show. There is a weird ancestral magic plot that feels so out of place in a pretty grounded show for the most part. Would have given this like a 6 didn't hate it and there was nothing aggregious about it but Disney+ marvel just couldn't help itself and delivered another truly terrible finale . It was anticlimactic and resolution of conflict for a grounded show is some nonsensical magic shlock . Echo's new powers are just generic and lame magic stuff. 5/10. Safe show with really terrible finale that just about Falls the same trap of most marvel D+ shows. It's better than she hulk and Secret invasion . Meh start for spotlight and don't know about DD born again. But Disney + really don't know how to write to structure their shows for the most part. We had 30ish min episodes in five episode show . Like seriously. They treat their shows more like content than actual stories. Echo should have been like a 2hr Disney+ exclusive movie same of most of this Disney + shows. Have no hope in most of the rest of shows. Know they are going to change their structure to the typical showrunner structure but they were just dumb and foolish to think this wasn't going to blow in their faces. Disney + continues to be a thorn to the MCU.

It's the rule deadline uses for breakeven Stratrek into darkness made profit with a box office of 440m against 190m budget. Due to heavy domestic skew. Lots more examples . Malifificent brokeven on 490m off a 170m+ . That's less than 3x it's production budget. They are numerous films with sub 3x production budget that have broken even or made profit . It's all in the Domestic/Overseas minus china /china ratio . Domestic -52-55% comes back to studio. Os - china - 38-40% China 25% Maybe Movies with very low domestic ratio and way higher OS ratio is where I think something like 3x production budget may come in. Breakeven conversation here gets confusing. You will have some users say fast X broke even or will make with lows 700s on a 340m production budget. Before 70m write off on MI8 budget . Some were saying 600m breakeven on 290m production budget which is below even 2.5* production budget. Now it may breakeven on a 570m box office off like 220m budget. Below your 3* production budget threshold. They are alot of variables in calculation of brokeven. It's why the range is wide 2-2.5* TLM made 2.2* it's production budget and brokeven. That range is used by trades and it's the one I will stick by.

More like low 500s . 600m of a 205m production budget is almost 3x . It would be profitable with that amount. Settling 470ish Million at best. Gonna lose money but not much . 2023 has been so terrible for CBMs that this is considered respectable in comparison.

I will say it again. 2023 will go down as one of those weird years. 9B after all the high profile flops we have had is honestly solid . Know the high ATP is helping but still Solid nonetheless. Festive box-office which most of us thought would be terrible and boring is pretty solid honestly and it seems pretty well distributed among the movies unlike last year which gross was significantly boosted by avatar. 2023 I guess despite it woes is sort of "blessing in disguise" Theatrical has been so dominated by sequels,remakes,CGI fests ,cinematic universes. Some of this properties will still make money but just not as much as before and mediocre/crappy ones are just straight up rejected. Will Hollywood learn anything from this . Probably not .

Wouldn't put stock in any of these leakers right know tbh. MCU in wait and see phase for 2024/2025 movie slate and contemplating what to do post. Apparently eternals 2 and young avengers movies in " the works" . Yeah don't really believe that and personally think it's some PR to try create a semblance "everything is ok , we still going full steam ahead" Not saying this projects can't happen. But probably Behind the scenes fiege and team are scratching their heads on what rewrites to do and just praying 2024 does good and expected and 2025 atleast deliver or they are well and truly fucked. Whatever treatments they have for eternals 2 or young avengers are down on the piled list of the issues to handle so really don't think we seeing them for now. X men movie b4 secret wars sounds dumb to me too. Make that the start of phase 7 . Current saga is too much of a mess ,we don't need them shoe horned in. Unless it's one of the foxverse variants. Should just finish out this saga and be done with it . the 2024/25 slate, Spidey 4, Schang chi sequel ,DS3 and 2 avengers movies . Definitely retool one of this movies into civil war mini avengers movie . As for villians . Pliz don't fucking touch doom. Galactus, Magneto and brother hood variant,beyonder,evil illuminati would work well enough.

Well the x men has a plethra of great female characters . With the right team and some good marketing . It can do pretty well Fine with magneto and Xavier sitting out. Wolverine for the sequels Just give cyclops more to do. Have him be the main male lead. If they fuck it up once again we'll it's on them.

Reshoots are MCU thing ,do it to tweaks some scenes Five month reshoot is Abit extensive though and that being based on it apparently having poor test screenings . Budget is not going to the IW level as some are saying but it will definitely be higher (Indy 5).

Monarch. First two episodes were pretty good. Third one started to feel iffy due to the post 2014 plotline. Characters there with exception of Kurt Russell are starting to get boring for me. 1950 plotline is the strongest and it's the one with more of the lore and monster mayhem . Wyatt Russell and team definitely have more chemistry. Honestly think it should have been the singular storyline and would have worked better. If they want other periods ,hey why not try like anthology type setting which would be cool for such a franchise. Didn't hear good things a bout 4 . So waiting for it to finish up before binging the whole thing.

And to think before COVID . They were planning 4 movies a year starting in 2021 then everything happened and delays. They ve really churned out content. MCU movies always kind of felt like an event now they are not. 2021 is just 2 years but feels like ages ago due to 10+ projects within.

She hulk was quite successful so S2 makes sense. Agatha . Ok wandavision was a success so can see that but ehh on it. Young avengers can only survive as a tv show atleast for the initial stage. You have introduced Ms marvel in a movie ,so keep her there. Don't think we need another season. Most of the feedback on her was positive even with how audience panned the marvels was. So just build on that with some supporting roles. ( She would fit right in a spiderman film or shang chi 2. Ironheart show doesn't make sense to me. She was a generic quip character that felt out of place in a rather dire wakanda forever film. Just keep her in films and give her supporting roles. Eternals 2 is not happening IMO.

Anya is a very good actress and Hemsworth is good too with the right script and role . So think judging them on just the first trailer is a little harsh. Hardy was one of the weakest parts of the original IMO. Him and Furiosa worked great together but on his own he wasn't given enough.

As per fricking usual. Studio execs just being so out of tune and getting the wrong lessons. Yeah we can discuss it all day . Disney sucks at diversity and representation and it all comes off as hollow and superficial and doing it just doing it because it's "trendy". But Marvels bombed bse no one cared and it had shoddy writing just like most of phase 5 and 4. Oversaturation ,bloated storyline and characters and a world clearly most of us and the GA don't care about anymore . Same goes for the rest of it's IPS. Pixar is not the same WDAs needs a rehauling. Enough has been said about starwars and live action remakes . Yeah we can complain about the vitriolic side of internet, and talk about the need for more diversity but if the story is not good or the very least attractive to audiences, if the characters are not relatable or interesting Movie won't do well.

Guess they going to recast Kang if he is found guilty. Raimi directing is cool. Waldron writing not one but both avengers is doubling down and crazy to me. Loki S1 also had a weak script carried by solid acting and good visuals. Didn't write S2 . Enough of DS2 script has been said. He has very little regard for continuity from the little I've seen.

Sure 2023 may have higher box-office than 2022 . But 2023 IMO has just been shit year with some outstanding overperformers. Barbenhiemer and Mario were the major standouts. The level of high profile bombs this year has been astounding. This is where the status quo has started shifting especially for established franchises. Late 2021-2022 was a post civid honeymoon phase . Jurassic world Dominion would have been a sub 300m Dom and Sub 800m WW in 2023.
