    For a good comparison with Maleficent: -Friday: 24.2 -Saturday: 25.7 -Sunday: 19.3 Maleficent 2: -Friday: 12.5 -Saturday: 14 -Sunday: 9.5 I think it's Sunday, correct?

    Does anyone feel like Mal2 came at the wrong time? It did very well when it first came out, May 2014, since there wasn't a lot of competition at the time. And then the sequel got pushed forward from May 2020 to October 2019, where Joker has been doing surprisingly well during this month. Then again, Disney's streaming service is coming out next month in November, so it feels like they kind of just dumped this film into October as they get ready for Disney+ next month.

    There's mainly Current War and Countdown, but with the three juggernauts currently in the runnings (Zom2, Mal2, Joker), they'll definitely hold well box office wise. I think Zom2 will end up dropping though in its second weekend. The big movie though is going to be Terminator Dark Fate, so there's that.

    What do you guys think Mal2's end total will be Worldwide? I think that the movie might end up being in the Cinderella numbers once it ends, or it could possibly be at 600M.

    Makes sense. I would be shocked though if this movie ends up doing a lot more during its 4th weekend (ex: 900M), but I don't think that's possible.

    For the rest of this month, nope. There is going to be Terminator Dark Fate out in November, but who knows how much that will do overseas.

    I did NOT expect that at all. Could it possibly surpass Endgame's gross over there (34M) or not?

    @RJ 95 I'm still surprised with how much Joker made overseas during its second weekend.

    200-300 OS, not Domestic. Domestically though the movie will probably end up doing lower than the first. Yeah, overseas wise I think anywhere from 80-100M (depending on the legs) is a better chance then 100 to 200M.

    Overseas Predictions: -Seeing how this is Mal2's first week, I overall think that it'll end up being somewhere in the 200-300M range overseas. -Seeing how Joker had a HUGE 2nd weekend overseas, I think it'll be in the 100-200M range, or maybe less than that.

    That's still an overall good hold in Japan (depending on if it increases). Depending on how many theaters there are for Joker come Halloween week, could the movie end up getting a boost around that time?

    From what I've seen in the Overseas BO thread, Mal2 and Joker are pretty much neck-in-neck. There are some places where Joker is doing more than Mal2 and vice versa where Mal2 is doing more than Joker. Curious to see how it all goes when Sunday hits. Seeing how the first Maleficent made 517M overseas, so I think it's probably going to drop somewhere in the 300M or so range.

    Wow that's a lot lower than I thought. I remember seeing online that tracking would be 50M and it would end up making anywhere from 160 to 175M, so the numbers must've been overestimated than under. Wow.

    I never expected a 2M difference between Mal2 and Joker. Goes to show that both movies can coexist at the box office. Adding up the totals for all three movies from Friday-Saturday: Mal2's 26.75, Joker's 20.86, and Zomb2's 20.6 so far. Depending on how Sunday turns out, this actually could be a first where all three movies end up grossing over 30M domestically 😁

    Funny thing is it's kind of like that with Joker too: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/race/oscar-voters-react-joker-avoiding-it-1245781 People either hate it, love it, or are avoiding it completely. The one thing everyone agrees on though is that Joaquin Phoenix gave a great performance.

    Speaking of Best Picture noms, Disney's doing their Oscars Campaign and they want Avengers Endgame to be in the runs for Best Picture. I mean, I personally think it shouldn't win BP, but something like an Lifetime Achievement Award of sorts would be better for the film.
