Elemental's endurance is really nice to see. Turning Red should've been Pixar's start to rebuild theater going but its nice to see this thing have staying power. ... it's almost as if Pixar films can do well in theaters and then do very well on D+ months later.... huh, what do you know 😐

Mine would be similar just ASM2 at the bottom.

The Little Mermaid WoM seems very strong. Hoping it pulls an Aladdin and has a simiar total domestic gross.

Rise of Gru numbers.
In terms of domestic not a bad comparison. Rise of Gru thrived due to those tiktok challenge stuff and I imagine this movie will have viral tiktoks of going to the theater.

The movie's audience is anyone who wants a fun, silly but smart, girly movie. 😊 I'm sure the movie is much more deep than that but you can tell that young adult women (and gays) are gonna eat this up.

Ant-Man opened pretty well imo. $120m+ OW wasn't realistic considering how the others did. Had the movie been... better it would've ended up with a decent gross.

I think Barbie is gonna predominantly kill it when it comes to women. Young adult women are gonna see it in droves and its a demographic that hardly ever is the target audience.

This doing $200m+ 5-day is just crazy. Delicious to see and just shows how important theaters are. Imagine if this had been a straight to Peacock release lol...

I think it's cause I'm not much of a horror guy but I honestly wasn't crazy about this. Surprised reviews are so strong.

Hm... on first watch this is my least favorite film from Peele. Didn't think it was bad but I just felt it lacked cohesion.

Lol. I knew ever since Disney+ was announced that they would have a problem with people just waiting for films to show up there. I really don't see how them pivoting to streaming will turn out for the better in the long run but oh well! Theatrical is here to stay clearly, too much money on the table.

Honestly Disney deserves this. Turning Red straight to D+ was a h u g e mistake. And with short theatrical windows waiting for D+ release isn't a big deal.

Wow at the Doctor Strange drop. Should've been put on D+ next month... so stupid.

Absolutely ridiculous tickets aren't on sale yet.

This is nuts. 90m first weekend would've been great itself.

I got a question for everyone. Do you like early Thursday previews or did you prefer it when it was only midnight screenings?
The culture of going to midnight screenings was fun. I think now the only thing comparable is seeing an MCU film Thursday night but waiting in line and the anticipation was an experience.

I wonder if the Black Adam trailer will be attached to Elvis or will they wait until the release of Thor: Love and Thunder? Given Disney will likely attach Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with Thor, I think WB will likely debut the BA trailer earlier.
The trailer date has already been announced, June 8.

Bad Guys should squeak past 100m, nice to see. Pretty bizarre that it's gonna beat Encanto (although mostly due to Bad Guys not being available straight to a streaming platform in 30 days vs its short window...)
-
After seeing the movie, yeah, it's gonna be big. The last half hour is really quite good and feels like an old school blockbuster/ ties in well with the first in an emotional way.
-
Truly bizarre. I've always thought Top Gun would be a $150m grosser in general. For it to do those kind of #s days... wow
-
So if this closes in the 900s it's legs from WW opening are actually similar to BvS...? Wow.

... I'm sorry but this having a $145m budget is ridiculous lol and I am really so excited for this. If the movie is amazing then ok but there's no reason this should cost that much
