Yay at Everything Everywhere increasing. Would LOVE if it somehow legged it out to beat Uncut Gems to be A24's biggest film but won't know how legs will be until end of month.
Truly idiotic. I think putting it on Max like the week after Doctor Strange releases would've been a good idea.
This did good. Not extraordinary but definitely not poor, and the domestic # is very good. The narrative on twitter about this not passing BvS is pure lunacy. I'm a fan of BvS but the legs were awful and a billion certainly should've happened with its opening.
Personally I think Everything Everywhere should be in the Oscar conversation definitely. It hits an emotional high that most Oscar bait wishes they could achieve. But yeah considering it's pretty wacky and idk if A24 will push it far at the very least Michelle Yeoh should get a nom.
6m+ weekend and 5k PTA for Everything Everywhere would be great. I loved the movie a lot, should be headed for top 5 all time A24 but rooting for a leggy run.
So looks like on Twitter everyone is having an issue with reserving AMC tickets with A-list.... been trying for 3 hours, Fandango goes through but won't let you use you A-List...
Sony made the right call to not release this at end of January. NWH and Uncharted are continuing to chug along while Morbius is making 80m+ that it probably would've done in its original slot.
Rooting for Everything Everywhere... to have a good expansion, can't wait to see it.
Really a shame how The Outfit did, I saw it a couple days ago and it was a lot better than I was expecting.
I know y'all are probably kidding but lol at this movie being the fate of theaters. But if this $25m+ opening gets a ton of mid-budget stuff greenlit then let's go. We need a new era of good theatrical comedies pleaaaase
Uhhhh besides NWH literally nothing has done a billion. We're not in 2019 anymore, otherwise The Batman probably could've done a billion in a healthy box office era.
And... it's literally outdoing most DC films in the US and will likely hit 800m+ WW at a time where nearly nothing else has. Expecting this to gross TDK #s now, and for a reboot doesn't make sense.
$800m+, 2nd biggest Hollywood film of the pandemic isn't anything to look down upon. What matters is that the film was generally well received and a sequel is inevitable. Now imagine if this released in its original October 2021 slot on day and date... lol
NWH should be nowhere near the conversation in looking at The Batman's box office. It was an anomally that won't be replicated (... by anything non-MCU) anytime soon.
