3.6 in Japan from audience and stronger critical reception is not mediocre. Why do people throw this word around without knowing what it actually means? Has our country (US) failed our children this badly when it comes to vocabulary?? Also embargo is embargo theyre not going to break it for you.

Interesting, opposite experience for me which I mentioned in the other thread. Went with 2 other friends, all of us loved it. Know another friend who saw it and he liked it (not as much as us), then finally one random guy who snap chatted me that he thought it was OK after I posted myself seeing it on my story lol. I haven't met anyone who has disliked it personally.

Not necessarily a bad sign either. Movies are meant to be examined and enjoyed over a lifetime. Perhaps there's something wrong with modern day society that just wants quick meaningless excitement and never rewatches movies. If you actually are a cinephile or even enjoy movies then you should absolutely look forward to watching movies more than once. I've never seen a major film only once. I typically will watch at least 2-3 times in the theater then more on Blu-Ray.

No, and anyone who thinks otherwise is objectively dumb in this regard, that is without question. Production design nominations go beyond subjective crap like "what you can see" because the people who VOTE are WORKERS IN THE GUILD. Every single person knows what goes on behind the scenes for a Nolan production. They shot in several different countries with on location set design and built one of the largest war sets in movie history for a very important sequence in the film. Once that happened the production design nom and likely win was locked. All technical noms are a lock for TENET +/- director

If Nolan doesn't win Best Director I will riot. Regardless of the story (which I enjoyed) he has made a quintessential work of CINEMA. This is the exact kind of film that demonstrates the reason why we go to the theaters to. Amazing practical effects, cinematography, and sound with a bombastic score that sends chills down your spine to the point it even overshadows the dialogue at points lmao. I could never imagine watching TENET for the first time on some tiny LG TV with some Sony speakers from Amazon or local electronics store lol. There hasn't been a film in 2020 that is even on the same plane when it comes to direction and looking at the line up from now until Feb 2020 I doubt there will be (maybe Dune but who knows). Auto lock for best director nom but crossing fingers for his first, sorely due, win.

Every single person I talked to who has seen it a 2nd time says it is absolutely better than first viewing no matter how much you liked or disliked it initially. It makes sense especially since the very end changes your entire perception of the events leading up to it. I can only imagine it's extremely easy to follow after you know where it ends up. Seeing it again this weekend so I'll have more input then.

Absolutely trash film with a wasted cast. Barely qualifies as an appetizer for Unhinged and let alone TENET. 2/5

Cant wait to see this again in one of the only theaters actually playing this in 1570 IMAX film. I saw it in LieMAX with a decent dimensioned screen but it just doesn't hit the same. Nolan movies are meant to be seen in the best quality possible. I've seen every single one of his films since TDK in the best theater possible at that time.

Complete opposite experience from you, went with 2 other buddies who are not cinephiles and they loved it along with myself. Spoiler discussions will be interesting for sure lol. My only complaints are some lost, seemingly important dialogue underneath the blaring score, a certain character being irrelevant after Part 1 AKA Exposition Station, and the quick 180 to hard science fiction at the end but the latter might come across better on second viewing just how the tesseract in Interstellar played much better on subsequent viewings. edit: pissed that I couldn't see it in true 70mm IMAX since the only true one near me is still closed. I definitely will rewatch this in the largest real IMAX possible. Dolby would be interesting too. edit 2: Best action Nolan has ever filmed, this will be the the least arguable aspect of the movie possible. Prior to seeing this I didnt see a single review fault the execution of the action scenes and after seeing it the reason is because it's impossible to. Regardless of the story the action is impeccable and I was surprised Nolan could pull of these forward-backward fight scenes, car chase, etc. The opening scene and last 30 minutes are wild. He's come a long way since the Batman days. My CURRENT ranking of Nolan top 5 movies, I need to rewatch TENET at least 1-2 more times before knowing where it really stands: Inception TDK Interstellar Memento TENET or Dunkirk
