  1. Saw this yesterday. Easily the best Illumination movie since Despicable Me 2. Very formulaic but sweet, charming, and to the point. Will play well with families over the holidays.
  2. The level of pressure on this movie is astonishing. It has to: - Help get the ball rolling on a rebooted franchise. - Begin restoring trust in a damaged brand - Revive an iconic character for general audiences - Help not put WB deeper in the hole
  3. I hate everything about this news, even if it doesn't come to fruition. We've already seen how much chaos the Discovery merger caused.
  4. A non-polarizing foundation that feels like it was planned out. That's the key difference. Granted, with how increasingly chaotic things are at Warner Bros, there's immense pressure on this movie to deliver and then some.
  5. That feels like an appropriate runtime. Yet weirdly, I was expecting something within the 3+ hour range.
  6. I know the tracking for this isn't great, but Elemental proved to us that opening weekend isn't always the end of the story. If this has decent reviews, it should do just fine.
  7. Is this obviously a way of having something in theaters due to strike delays? Yes. Is it still great news? Also yes.
  8. I'm of the opinion that all the Alien movies are good or at least entertaining outside of AVP:R. Hell, I find myself watching Resurrection more often than 3 because it's more enjoyable and doesn't depress me. This sounds like it'll be a tense, back-to-basics entry in the series.

  10. Excellent casting decision. And Nicholas Hoult being turned down for prior DC heroes almost makes him perfect for the role considering that inadequacy is one of Lex Luthor's main motivations.
  11. We've been seeing it for the last seven years: - JL and SS were reshot because WB was surprised by the negative reception to BvS. - Snyder being forced to reshoot JL and being forced our by WB? Because they wanted a course correction. - JL failing to even crack $100M on OW? A direct result of audiences feeling burned by BvS, the film setting it up. Josstice League didn't kill the DCEU, it was proof that it had already been dead. - WW, The Batman, Joker, and AM were hits despite the baggage the brand had, in part, because they had positive word of mouth. They're the exception, not the norm. - The reason why James Gunn and Peter Safran were brought in (after numerous regime changes)? Because the main franchise had so much baggage that the only option was to start anew.
  12. I don't think it can ever be overstated how much damage BvS did to the brand.
  13. No. But the fact that they're not sticking to their original decision of shelving it suggests that someone either told them or that they realized that this was not a good luck to people in the industry.
  14. It's not because it was Looney Tunes. It's that WB had made a habit of normalizing shelving movies for taxes. And the fact that Coyote V Acme was written/produced by someone in a top position at WB. If that's the mentality Zaslav has towards a $70M movie, why would his mentality be different with DC projects? If a James Gunn project can get scrapped, why would any creative or filmmaker (whether a big name or a newcomer) trust WB?
  15. Both scenarios in which the guys at top thought they could treat their talent like disposable dish rags.
  16. Stop working with WB altogether? Nope. But at the very least, I expect some of them to at least think twice before pitching an idea or story if this keeps up.
