Using this $550M cutoff, how many films do we think will go over it in 2022? Assuming everything currently scheduled stays where it is, I'm thinking...
The BatmanDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Jurassic World: Dominion
Lightyear
Thor: Love and Thunder
Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverAvatar 2
I chose to use the 550M cutoff because it give us a nice list of about 50 movies, while a cutoff at 500M leave us with a long list of over 70 movies. I must also say that one day I will check all the figures because considering the various re-releases in 2020 and 2021 and the often inaccurate data that BOM has about China many are probably wrong
For 2022 I think Thor has no chanches (Ragnarok made 427M without China), while Doctor Strange will need an incredible increase over the first movie (even higher than No Way Home compared to Far From Home). For Lightyear I honestly expect less than Minions 2, with both out of the list

Its success in the UK is simply incredible, at max I expected it to double the result of Far From Home (which was already a success) so grossing about 100M, and instead it has already surpassed that figure in less than 4 weeks after the release 😱

With the upcoming release in China it will most likely surpass Croods 2 as the highest grossing animated film of the pandemic (excluding Demon Slayer), and let's see how long it will last as Sing 2 will almost certainly surpass it

This could make more than Eternals, Venom 2, Shang Chi and Black Widow combined.
Eternals - 401m
Venom 2 - 501m
Shang Chi - 432m
Black Widow - 379m
Total - 1.713 billion
This is impressive, but with a "normal" release without the competition of Disney+ Black Widow would certainly have grossed more than 400M

But that’s not what we’re talking about. He just said with a normal China release (meaning right now). I added the caveat of no Omicron wave but still with COVID being what it was before the past month.Ah ok, it makes sense then 👍

Holy shit. 90M is locked.
Not only this film got XMAS & New Year, but it also got almost solo release. Endgame in NWH place would have breezed past $3.2B with 2018 ER.
I never understood why Marvel never took advantage of the Christmas window in the 13 years prior to No Way Home...

definately a 2billion grosser with a normal chinese release
Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember that without covid its release would have been scheduled for the month of July (the month with the lowest gross for half of the countries in the world). In that case I think that even with China the 2 billion would have been really difficult, let alone the 2.2B of Titanic

Isn't Turkey considered as Middle East. I never showed in Asia. If I am wrong, correct me please 🌼✨
Well to be fair Turkey, Russia but also Georgia, Armenia and Kazakhstan are all in Europe, then if the Middle East is considered a separate thing Turkey is definitely there

Here’s hoping for good enough legs and WOM to get us over ¥7.5B and become the new SH champion in Japan after 20 years!
6.5B would already be incredible (above Endgame and Joker), 7.5B would be the dream 👍

The Befana film was only the 8th highest grossing movie on the Befana day, really embarassing
Maybe making an unnecessary prequel and replacing Paola Cortellesi (a popular and acclaimed comedian) with Monica Bellucci wasn't an amazing idea...

Second Weekend:The Lion King(3.41m)
Third Weekend:The Lion King(2.78m)

5th Weekend:The Lion King(2.37m)
Damn, at this point I guess The Lion King won also some of the following weeks...

I mean, we'll never know about Shang-Chi. It might have easily beaten Detective Chinatown 3 WW.
In this case it would have needed at least 250 million in China, which was obviously impossible. Just remember for example the gross of some important marvel movies such as Age of Ultron at 240 million, Far From Home at 200 million and Civil War at 180 million
After all the Chinese audiences certainly don't watch a movie just because it has a cast of American actors with various Asian origins, and it doesn't even make sense to think otherwise. Just look at the results of Crazy Rich Asian (1M), Mulan (40M with a 200M budget) and The Farewell (0.5M)

Weekend 31-02: Spider-Man No Way Home: €1,495M/ €20,046M
Full run prediction: €26M
- Endgame did 4M after 3º weekend
-Infinity World did 2,8M after 3 weekend
I expect 6 M for Spiderman due 0 competition and holidays
Damn at the end it will gross more in Spain than in Italy, despite having a lower total for the first 3 week (and probably also 4). Is it common for Spain to have good legs even for front loaded films, or is Marvel doing miracles?
Edit: Sorry but don't the holidays end in 3 days?

As a reminder before the release of No Way Home, this is the list of the highest-grossing superhero movies of all time in Japan (Marvel and DC)
¥7.50 billion ($59.2 million) - Spider-Man (2002)
¥7.12 billion ($66.9 million) - Spider-Man 3 (2007)
¥6.70 billion ($61.1 million) - Spider-Man 2 (2004)
¥6.13 billion ($55.3 million) - Avengers: Endgame (2019)
¥5.06 billion ($46.7 million) - Joker (2019)
¥3.74 billion ($34.1 million) - Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
¥3.61 billion ($46.2 million) - The Avengers (2012)
¥3.21 billion ($26 million) - Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
¥3.16 billion ($39.1 million) - The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
¥3.14 billion ($30.7 million) - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
¥3.06 billion ($28.1 million) - Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
¥3.00 billion ($20 million) - Batman (1989)
My personal lowest goal is to overtake Infinity War, the "most likely" one is to gross 50% more than Far From Home (so about 4.6B) and the really optimistic one is to overtake Endgame

Updated 2021 WW numbers as per Disney: $378.9 M, excluding Disney+.
This movie wasn't incredible but it definitely deserved more, without the competition of the Disney+ release and a better covid situation (like for example in Summer or in Autumn) I think it could have grossed 500M even without China...

Guys do you think there will be a new trailer/commercial that also shows the "other characters" previously hidden? I remember there was for example something similar for Endgame but I don't remember when or the details...
ITALY (Botteghino): 'Inside Out 2' is 7th biggest film of all time and biggest animated film ever!

Keep in mind that here we have the first weekend of 4 days if not even 5, so even a simple x2 can be considered good legs (especially if it's a front loaded movie). In the case of Spider Man it grossed 11.2 million in the first 5 days, so it would have to finish above 22.4 million to exceed x2
Then of course there are special and rare cases like Joker who managed to do x5 (6M ->30M), despite having made his debut on Wednesday
