  1. Hoping this is leggy and manages to stretch to a $35m OW. I have no idea what to expect overseas. Domestically I'm predicting $34m OW, and overall $115m domestic. $250m worldwide would be okay, for a movie that was supposed to be released direct to streaming and had no marketing.
  2. *shrug* Don't see anything controversial about saying that having actors dissing the movies they're in is bad for the movies and bad for their careers. The girl has been bullied off of social media. This movie faced an unfair uphill battle over race (the same TLM did), but now it has scored two very big own goals in the form its main star bashing the source material (the fans of which they want to see this one) and taking roles away from a very underrepresented minority in Hollywood. Disagree with this. I think she gets nervous and says stupid things. See my Shazam example above. She lacks polish in these moments and searches for things to say, and says the wrong thing. The studios should be helping her more.
  3. I feel bad for her, but would be lying if I said what she has said didn't grate on me and ruin any prospect of me being excited for the movie. Despite the views of some here, I see this sticking for a while and I think Rachel has done a fair bit of harm to her career in the short term and to this movie. While I expect this all to die down in a month or so, it will ramp up again when the film releases. It's kind of unsellable. According to Rachel: - the movie her movie is copying is no good; - the film, a remake of a romance, considers romance ancillary; and - her male lead could have all of his scenes cut from the film and it wouldn't matter. How does she or the studio sell this movie now? Add to that the dwarf controversy. She needs PR coaching and stat. She also had a huge clanger for Shazam 2 when asked why she wanted to be in it on the red carpet she replied with "I needed a job". Honest, but very hard to save and insulting to everyone else who worked on the film even if she tried to sell it as a joke.
  4. This movie was a solid 7/10 until the third act which was a jumbled CGI mess. Also we don’t need to worry about the box office, it’s safe to assume the good people at Skittles, Gatorade and Uber have ensured this movie has already made a profit with what can only be described as the most shameless and embarrassing product placement I have ever seen in a film. ”Taste the rainbow”…twice.
  5. At my local there are two identical premium screens. One is showing Scream VI, the other Shazam! (already a bad sign) at the same time. Worse than that though, is that Shazam has only sold TWO more tickets than Scream VI. Ouch.
  6. There's really no comparison to be made between The Authority and Swamp Thing and Shazam. The most analogous thing to The Authority would be The Boys. Swamp Thing is horror.
  7. I love dinosaurs and I have no interest in seeing this. This is DOA.
  8. The order that 2, 4, 5 and 6 go in in terms of a ranking is, IMO, just based on preferences and small details. They're all a very consistent quality.
  9. I hope this is good and I hope it performs. I liked the first, and Sandberg deserves a hit. Although there is a part of me that has mixed feelings - a flop would make it easier to fully close the DCEU.
  10. I saw it. I think overall it will have good word of mouth. As a fan of the franchise I ejoyed it, but this is probably my ranking... Scream (1996) Scream 2 Scream 4 Scream (2022) Scream VI Scream 3 For a movie that relies so heavily on FIVE previous instalments in terms of plot, it's arguably more accessible to GAs than its predecessor. I think because its far less meta and *wink, wink*. Think this will exceed BO expectations.
  11. I don't think "Marvel Fatigue" is a thing. I don't even think a decline in quality is to blame. Captain Marvel made over a billion. The problem is two-fold, but with each issue having the same impact. Phase 4 lacks an overarching narrative to make each movie "must-see". There's also too much content. I never missed a single MCU movie in theatres EVER until Phase 4. I did not see Black Widow, Eternals or Thor 4 in theatres. It's not essential viewing anymore. I think Ant-Man's final WW total starts with a 5, tbh.
  12. I’m I right that even BA’s Tuesday wasn’t great?
