  1. I thought this have great early reaction? How come it is starting 63% on RT?
  2. I like to see this too but the buzz is a bit weak for this to open that high at 50m just in 3 days. Even among BOT, I didn't see much buzz surrounding AQP2.
  3. I didn't expect this to be so positive but since none of them are from top critics. It is safe to say this bound to drop to 70-80%
  4. Comp 0.981x of Godzilla vs. Kong Sunday Before Release (9.52M) 1.395x of Mortal Kombat Tuesday Before Release (12.68M) Can I assume half of those are from Thursday and another half for Friday? So the range for Thursday preview is about 4.76m-6,34m
  5. I think they launch too late, should have been few days earlier to build the buzz
  6. Why haven't they lifted the embargo for this one? I thought the reactions are good?
  7. The tracking thus far, including yours, even if we filter out some overindex element locally, suggest that 4m-4.5m is the range for Thursday preview. If AQP2 managed to generate 11x (POTC5's IM), this would put 3 days weekend number rivaling the 1st AQP's opening. Is that worth a club?
  8. Have local regulation allow you to operate at 25%? I heard covid-cases have been doing great across CA.
  9. UK Box Office Recovers To Pre-Lockdown Level – Deadline It was a hugely positive first weekend back in business for UK cinemas, with Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway leading the market to north of £7M ($10M) in total. That’s the best Fri-Sun since cinemas were first forced to close by the pandemic in March 2020. The UK government’s initial lockdown was announced on March 16, 2020, and the last time the market topped this weekend’s takings was March 6-8 2020, when the box office notched $12M, with Pixar’s Onward as the top grosser.
  10. But even Peter rabbit 2 can elevate UK box office to pre-pandemic level, why not AQP2? AQP made more than peter rabbit here at state.
  11. Maybe they are encouraged by the DS' success, they will re-release weathering with you soon. Makoto Shinkai's WEATHERING WITH YOU Returning To U.S. Theaters This July
  12. With Thursday preview that starting at 5pm and Monday's holiday, AQP2's opening weekend is actually 4.5 days, not that much different from GvK's 5 days Easter weekend. So anything above 48.1m is a win for me.
  13. New york state still have 6 feet distancing requirement but can somebody tell me what max capacity % level that this requirement will generally lead to?
  14. the 2nd one sound more like a standard marketing gimmick than a pandering. The point is, given how popular the franchise is in China. they didn't cast any Mainland star or change their film location to China like how TF4 or godzilla vs kong did. I haven't even see a scene in F&F where they primarily use Chinese as dialogue.
  15. I am sure not only Chinese like Paul Walker and mentioning Paul is not exactly a pandering gesture.
  16. F&F didn't really try to woo Chinese. Their casting choice, setting and plot, do almost nothing pandering as chinese-friendly but they managed to consistently attract audience in China.
  17. Average rating also rise to 7.3/10. But the review is coming in slower than I expected.
  18. This largely in line with our expectation where people generally want to see a sequel or franchise film in theater while standalone film suffered at home. This explain why we don't have much original hit in recent years.
  19. Going by this rate, theater manager or Christopher Nolan will have to kneel down in front of cinema , weeping and crying people to come in.
  20. Hopefully the positive buzz from the review can close up this gap. AQP2 last year was shut out 7 days before preview right? So the comparison should stop at T-7.
  21. I think 28 May is a decent spot. 2nd half of the year is too crowded. And the reviews is positive enough to have hype the buzz.
