No one is forcing you to watch this show. I am glad that Harry Potter books finally have the chance to be adapted properly -

Emma Watson is a horrible actress. It will be easy to replace her with more talented girl. Daniel was miscast as well. He played awkward nerd and not charming rebellious boy that Harry was. Rupert was great but Steve Kloves wrote him as useless comic relief. He wrote Hermione as this flawless smart and great at everything girl. Dumbledore was written as too agreesive and Snape as too calm and he was massively whitewashed. Voldemort often felt like parody. Making a superior adaptation won't be that hard at all. Harry Potter deserves to be properly adapted. -

Harry Potter movies were not a faithful adaptation at all. -

Game of Thrones can't be remade because GRRM doesn't know how to finish the books. He is not J.K. Rowling -

What universe? Everything outside the main book was very weak. And Lucasfilm is not a good example how to handle a franchise at all. "Somehow Voldemort returned" is probably what we would've got in HP sequel. -

First two books were adapted well. Third boom was mostly good but still ignored some major parts. But the rest of the series wasn't adapted faithfully at all because it just wasn't possible to do that in movie format -

Ehhh that's not a good comparison. The original Star Wars were only ever films. Harry Potter are books first and the adaptations were very imperfect and cut a lot out. In some cases whole books were butchered in the adaptation process. There is no superior more in depth version of the original Star Wars story that the films were a mixed bag in living up to. Meanwhile it's very easy to see how you could make a 10 episode series out of each book. The content is there. -

No, people always wanted another adaptation because after the the third movie the whole series felt like a Wikipedia summary. -

Not true at all! This is exactly what fans were saying since the moment Game of Thrones started. -

We saw what happened with Fantastic Beasts. And movies were never a good place to adapt Harry Potter anyway. It's like turning GOT into a movie series. -

and that's basically it. there is no story there. no one cares about it. -

The movies always felt like a Wikipedia summary of the books. Character development and nuances have been lost. I do think they did an amazing job considering the constraints but Harry Potter always felt like something more suited for TV show. If they do this right and Casey Bloys' involvement in negotiations is assuring me they will, this has a chance to be the definitive adaptation and much better product than the movies. -
I agree with everything. We keep hearing how this is a huge world with many possibilities but any attempt to actually expand on the original story wasn't popular. And making a TV show is what is giving creative excuse for this - "now we can adapt the story more faithfully and add nuances that were lost in the movies".

It's not too soon at all. It's been 22 years since the first movie. By the time this show airs it will be 25 years at least. And by the time it ends it will probably be 25 years since DH Part 2 It's actually a perfect moment to capture a new generation of fans. Waiting another decade for no reason won't bring them anything
-
I don't think they want to work with Rowling anymore. Fantastic Beasts is done. This is the only logical move when you think about it. If they do it right it can provide them a decade of content. I think it's easier to hire the great cast and make great sets, than to create an amazing story. Fantastic Beasts had a great cast, but the story was a problem. Cursed Child wasn't popular either. Idk. I think there is a greater chance of this show being good than any sequel with the original trio, because the story just isn't there.

I disagree. Movies were never the right medium for this story. But back in 2001 that was the only option. Since Game of Thrones, Harry Potter fans hoped for something like this. This is going to be a massive hit. I agree that casting will be a huge challenge, but I don't think something that can't solved.
