Yeah you pretty much sum it all up here. The Iron Man connection is one of a few things that bring these movies down, as well as Spider-Man's characterization. It's ironic; if the character wasn't owned by Sony, and therefore not "loaned" to the MCU but fully in the MCU, I don't know if Marvel Studios would even bother having the connection because the film would sell itself being an MCU film. In reality, what we have is Sony's 3rd attempt at a Spider-Man franchise so they have to cram the Iron Man connections in there to sell the movie. They tried to have the character learn to go his own way in FFH, but the problem is he still ended up inheriting a bunch of tech from Stark so the connection is very much there. I wish we could have a Peter Parker who makes his own suit and web shooters. Ya know, like the comic book Spider-Man.

I'm talking about the movies in general, rather than the portrayals of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I do agree that Holland himself has been great. I just feel the movies all around have been lacking. Can't seem to put a finger on it.

Sony messed up again with Spidey. Only Raimi and Co. got it right. There's something about the new ones that make them seem like they're ripped right from the newer cartoons. Very juvenile and..well cartoony.

Yeah that's odd, but weirdly it's not surprising to me. It's almost like movies are just losing priority, even if the job as a film critic doesn't really get affected by Covid (ie. they can just write up their reviews at home).

The domestic box office will be so depressing for this. Hopefully when the Great Reset hits which is why we have COVID in the first place they will allow theatres to flourish!

This could be Endgame level epic if everyone is truly onboard! Also I was thinking if they pull it off it will provide a plausible link and explanation for Sony doing their own things with Spidey villains (aka Venom, Morbius movies). Before this it was just plain awkward to have those movies, idk.

Hugely disappointing by WB. As a cinema fan - not to mention box office nerd - I feel like I'm holding on to things I love for dear life. Not a great feeling.
