ABC (owned by Disney) is trying to make this year's Oscar more accessible for general audiences, I wouldn't be surprised if they announced the premiere of Thor's trailer at the Oscars.

Walt Disney Studios is listed as a sponsor:

Advertisers of this year’s show include proud sponsors Crypto.com; Pfizer; Rolex and Verizon; and participating sponsors: Amazon XCM; Anheuser-Busch (Michelob); Bacardi (Bombay Sapphire); Bank of America; Best Buy; Capital One; CBS Interactive (Paramount +); CNN+; Corona; Discovery+; Disney+; Eli Lilly; Geico; Google; Incyte; Kellogg; Kraft; Lionsgate; Lucid Motors; Macys; Mastercard; Meta; Peacock; Reckitt (Mucinex); Snapchat; State Farm; Stellantis; Subway and Walt Disney Studios, among others.”

we should have D+ sometime in summer over here in Slovakia and Czech republick, hopefully before KENOBI start :)
they are removing Disney stuff from HBO MAX begining in april, so maybe good chance to get it in MAY :)

Yeah Summer 2022 for a bunch of countries, with both Kenobi and Ms.Marvel coming in late May/early June getting the service out around that time would make a lot of sense.

Not exactly anything we didn't already know about Vader but could also refer to the Inquisitors, since most if not all are ex-Jedi.

Could be something more to it though. Find out soon enuf.

Yeah watched the trailer last night, it is beautiful in Dolby Vision ❤️

  4. Great to see public pressure already allowing for things to change that are just months away from release!

I’m really excited for the Ashton Corbin movie. Bought time a sister gets to direct an animated film.

I'm going to assume autocorrect got you with this one but it is Aphton Corbin, I wasn't aware she was working on full length film though so thanks for the heads up.

If anyone is interested in her work she directed Twenty Something which was a pretty great Spark Short on Disney+

My benchmark along hasn’t been Mando S2, but Loki.

Anyone have any Loki benchmarks we can look at?  And I suppose, Moon Knight both for recency and because I recall it over-performing expectations on likes/views.

Don't have any 24 hour data or anything but Moon Knight is bigger than Loki in terms of trailer views on YouTube. Loki and Wanda are both at 23m views, Hawkeye at 21m Moon Knight is already at 29m.

Edit: Mando S1 trailer at 25m and Mando S2 both trailers are 16m, Boba Fett 11m on YouTube.

So Mando S1 and Moon Knight are probably the bets benchmarks, if YouTube is representative of all social media.

All of this is offical channels, IGN and the like will have millions more views for all.

So Disney's entire theatrical slate this year is what, two movies and a couple from Fox from before the merger?

They were always leaner than the other studios, but that's ridiculous.

I think most of the studios have lighter slates in general. Warner has something like 8 this year they normally have around 20. Paramount around 10 or so and in 2015-2019 they were around 15.

Disney should also have some Searchlight releases that are not titled so should be around 10 releases theatrically not including Nat Geo which are usually handled by third party distributors for theatrical.

It’s what they deserve. Disney are always on the wrong side of LGBT history.

The problem is they have been on the right side of history in the past and in fact they have used their size to cause change fairly recently.

Disney and its Marvel Studios film unit will not shoot future movies in Georgia if a controversial bill that critics contend would legalize anti-gay discrimination is signed by that state’s governor. Among other companies, Viacom, 21st Century Fox, Lionsgate, CBS as well as the AMC Networks, which films The Walking Dead in the state, have called on Gov. Nathan Deal to veto the legislation.

“Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in Georgia, we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law,” a Disney spokesman said Wednesday.

Marvel has filmed such movies as Ant-Man and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in Atlanta, taking advantage of Georgia’s attractive tax incentives. While Disney’s statement specifically mentioned Marvel, other Disney units like ABC Studios and Disney Studios would also take part in the boycott.

    ...

In the wake of Disney’s move today, Griffin said, “We applaud Disney and Marvel for standing up for fairness and equality by sending a strong warning to Governor Deal. It’s appalling that anti-LGBT activists in Georgia are trying to pass legislation creating an explicit right to discriminate against LGBTAmericans. We urge other studios, major corporations, and fair-mind Georgians to continue speaking out and urging Gov. Deal to veto this heinous piece of legislation sitting on his desk.”

The advocacy group GLAAD also recognized Disney’s stance, with its president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis saying in a statement, “Disney is the first studio to speak out, but not the last. Now, Governor Deal needs to demonstrate his leadership by vetoing a law that would harm not only LGBT Georgians, but the growing entertainment industry that supports Georgia’s economy.”

At a press conference moments ago, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced that he will veto a bill that would allow discrimination against LGBTQ people. Numerous corporations and celebrities have denounced the bill and threatened to leave the state or abandon planned projects if the bill became law.

Hollywood has been particularly invested in the fight against the bill. Companies like Disney, Netflix, CBS, NBCUniversal, and Discovery joined forces with actors and producers like Aaron Sorkin, Ryan Murphy and Julianne Moore to oppose the legislation. Georgia offers Hollywood production companies huge tax breaks as an incentive to shoot in the state, which took in $1.7 billion last year in revenues from such companies.

Now obviously Disney (and Universal for that matter) cannot threaten to move their theme parks out of Florida unlike how they threatened to leave Georgia but at the very least they can make a statement that supports their LGBT staff and the LGBT people of Florida rather than both siding things.

Pixar needs to sue and not leave disney. If this report is confirmed on Wednesday.

Pixar is Disney, they will not sue because they can't.

At worst there may be an employee walkout but even that seems unlikely as this has nothing to do with money or bad working conditions.

Some employees may choose to leave (which I would welcome in general to be honest, it is always good to have competition) but if they want theatrical none of the other major animation studios are really assured of offering that as Universal, Warner, Paramount and Sony have all sent or sold animated movies to streaming during the pandemic. We will see what the Skydance/Apple partnership does in terms of theatrical but that is still an unknown but I'd imagine a short window at best due to TV+
