A third Black Panther cannot rely on Chadwick Boseman, T’Challa or the goodwill of the 1st movie. I don’t think Disney will risk giving 200 million to make another Black Panther movie not starring T’Challa especially after Captain Marvel’s box office performance. A lot of Black Panther/Marvel fans and casuals are simply not watching another Black Panther movie without T’Challa

Coogler is making a vampire film with Michael B. Jordan. I think he and Disney will mutually part ways because Black Panther is not making a lot of money again without T’Challa. They’ll reboot if they make another one.

I’m betting there will not be a Black Panther 3 starring Shuri or the son they made up either.

How much is the 52m with inflation. Michael Jackson was/is bigger than Queen so that was not as big as these biopics get. I expect a Michael Jackson movie will be marketed as a concert movie. He is the most iconic performer ever. The pic they just released of his nephew playing him has huge amounts of likes on social media. The MJ musical has grossed over $170 million so far. His estate have just agreed to sell half of his song catalogue to Sony for $600m the biggest deal ever for a musician’s catalogue and they still retain control of the catalogue. The entire catalogue may be worth as much as 1.5 billion and that’s before the movie comes out. Bruce Springsteen sold his entire catalogue and control of it for 500m. David Bowie’s estate sold his for 250m. Queen are trying to sell their entire catalogue for 1.2 billion and that includes royalties from the film and theatrical productions using Queen’s music. The deal for Jackson’s catalogue doesn’t include royalties from the upcoming film, the musical and other productions. The potential for this movie exceeds any other biopic regardless of anything else.

That trailer did not make it look like an event movie and the reference to a television show did not help.

Deadpool and Wolverine is a corny title and that teaser was underwhelming.

I see no point in continuing with Kang. He’s a flop. The public don’t care, Majors won’t play him again, he’s not a credible threat after Ant Man Quantumania and he is just underwhelming after Thanos. The stakes with him are just too low. I haven’t watched Loki s2 but I read they end it where you don’t need to continue with Kang so just don’t. Just focus on Secret Wars and bring everyone (Original Avengers, Fox X-Men, Snipes Blade, The Spider-Men etc.), bring an alternate universe T’Challa, make it an epic farewell and reboot.

Just ok quality to make 800m? Guardians of the Galaxy 3 needed really good word of mouth to just go over that. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 made more than either Deadpool 2 and Logan worldwide. The Marvels will barely make it over 200m which nobody predicted a year ago. You have been called crazy to suggest it makes under 400m. If it was easy to not let this one have an ok reception then why did they let Multiverse of Madness, Thor 4, Ant Man 3 and The Marvels have ok or worse reception. Where’s the nostalgia? We saw Deadpool and Wolverine quite recently in their own movies.

I know pre-sales haven’t started strong but think people are being too pessimistic. How are pre-sales compared to the first movie? The recent trailer was good and gave me the same vibe as first movie so I have a hard time believing the movie is boring or a disaster. Wan is a competent filmmaker and it has the same writer of the first movie.

The problem is the Captain America movie is probably connected to The Thunderbolts who they apparently have plans for. So they need the Captain America movie to have a decent reception to give The Thunderbolts movie a chance to not bomb.
