  1. I mean you say that but look at JP, SW etc. I don't think it's that simple. We'll see for sure in December but that's why Avatar's such a toss-up domestically.
  2. My issue with the 'no cultural impact' Avatar stuff is like, sure on the internet. But the internet's not a great determinator of that. For all we know Avatar is super well remembered among the general audience and we just don't see that. Maybe it appeals to demographics that tend to not be online. etc
  3. I feel like Us gets too big in scope for its third act. I think Get Out stays pretty good in that third act, but Us loses me with the conspiracy stuff.
  4. How is it trolling to literally say who was credited? Anyways to appease you all, I genuinely think Animal Kingdom has done a great job keeping Avatar relevant and popular.
  5. People can purposefully misread what I'm saying as much as they want, but box office is not determined by quality. Yes Cameron directing would've been a different movie, but that's not what determines box office.
  6. It would not have done much different in my opinion. At the end of the day it still would've been an adaptation of an obscure manga and 4 episode anime series.
  7. This isn't about quality, this is about box office results. I don't think anything Cameron would've done with the same exact concept and script would've convinced general audiences to go see it. It's just not that kind of project.
  8. Going by WGA rules if Rodriguez wrote any significant part of it, he'd be the one credited. Rodriguez definitely did edits on it but it's still Cameron's script.
  9. Yeah and it still didn't make that much money. I like Alita, a lot actually, but I'm just saying acting like if Cameron directed it would make a difference is kind of ridiculous.
  10. I'd believe it but based on a lot of stuff, such as Cameron being a big part of marketing around the time, Cameron was still a driving force, still wrote the script etc.
  11. As I said in the CinemaCon thread, I'm in the middle in terms of my thoughts on how it will do. It was more a warning to the same people who made big statements before Alita to not repeat that mistake lest they end up the way that did, but I won't say more on that front.
  12. Cameron was so involved with Alita (with his name on it way more than Rodriguez) including writing it and overseeing so much of it that to act like it would've done better if he was in the director's seat is disingenuous at best.
